Holy....Lord.... I almost had a stroke.....I know I'm a little late to the game, but I kept hearing so much about it, that I had to get it. I have played quite a few shmups, but none from Cave...nothing against them, but I have just never had the opportunity until now. I am in awe. I absolutely love the colors, the mayhem, and the music!!!... The music is just amazing - it makes me want to break out the receiver/subwoofer to the gaming setup again. I had to rant - my heart is still racing.
Well, enjoy it b/c Cave games don't get much easier than this. On that note, this game is what sucked me into all of their games. It was my first Cave 1CC. Now, their games are the majority of what I play. The Soundtrack is unfortunately quite hard to come by. It had a limited pressing, then two more for the Cave shows so it's not quite as pricey as it once was, but still... doesn't grown on trees. There are some good replays at super-play.co.uk if you want some tips. I never really got a good score myself (39 mil or so). If I ever bust it out, it's to play arrange mode, which you should make note of doing, promptly after putting a strong pair of panties on. It will rape you. EDIT: Here is the story and whatnot translated. Here is a pretty impossibly hard book to find.
Get mame and download Dodonpachi Guwange ESP RA DE Dangun Fevron Progear that'll keep ya busy for awhile
As we prefer to buy games around these parts rather then be pirates and use mame... some of us even buy the arcade games (not me though....) Donpachi, DoDonpachi are available on the Sega Saturn and Playstation DoDonPachi Dai Ou Jou is on the Playstation 2. I also like Ibara on the Playstation 2 too.
Only one of GOH's games listed has a port... one of which has serious issues (SS), the other with simply "issues" (PS). Ibara on the PS2, has arguably the most issues of any Cave port. :/
I must be the only person I know who doesn't like Espgaluda or Esp De Ra. I'm not sure what it is, I just can't get into them. May break out Espgaluda tonight though for a try.
I didn't quite enjoy espgaluda either, I'm too much of an old school raiden dx player. Bullet storms aren't really my thing.
ESPGALUDA is one of my favourite Cave-Shooters, although it stays behind Ketsui and Daioujou b/c its too easy for my needs. But its style, bullet patterns, motivating scoring system and great music as well as the ps2-exclusive arrange mode (which is fantastic indeed) make it to the best cave-port ever for me.
Thing is, I like Cave games. Big fan of Mushime-Sama, Progear and Ibara, Just not Espgaluda. Maybe its 'cos of my preference for playable ships, not playable characters, in shmups.
GaijinPunch - thank you very much for the links  I suppose Donpachi and Dodonpachi are next on the list to get...at least the most financially feasible..oh how I would love to purchase arcade equipment ;-) I need to prep myself before I go play again - *practices_controlled_breathing*
Galuda 2 doesn't get "stormy" until like stage 4 though. It really is a piece of cake game. A great confidence-builder. Well, Donpachi is really only a Cave game by name. Ikeda was the designer, but this is before he came up w/ the whole mini-hitbox idea. As such, it doesn't really age IMHO. Dodonpachi is of course great (minus the soundtrack) but it is more of a game you invest your life in.
