As the title says i broke the screen on my mobile by sitting on it accidentally(thats stupid i know lol)and now i have no idea what i'm going to do to get it fixed All the main phone functions work but just at the bottom right there is like a tear or even crack on the inside of the screen which has screwed up the rest of the screen. Sure it would be easy enough to fix if i had a nokia, sony ericsson or some major type of phone from the major manufacturers but its a 3 INQ and i didn't get it from a 3shop or online but 2nd hand from CEX in the uk back at the begining of january so i'm not sure what to do. I was going to cancel the insurance of another phone i now no longer have but i may try and change it over to the new phone wait the 14 day peirod untill i can claim and then wait a few weeks more before claiming but that's alot of hassle. Anyone here know what i could do or have advice??
well i was going to ask if its still underwarranty but th.... you could see if you could buy a new replacement screen or buy a new mobile phone all together you can get some pretty good deals if you look hard enough
You're likely not... get it fixed. If it makes you feel better, I've done the following w/ my phones. None survived. 1: Took one surfing 2: Crushed one between myself and some piece of weight training equipment 3: Left one in a cab 4: Had one fall out of my pocket while doing situps (somewhat elevated) and busted the screen. It still worked, but was difficult to use. I left my iPHone in a friends car I passed out in not long ago, but I was pretty drunk and tired.
I found an "AS-IS" iPhone on ebay that fell out of the guys pocket just as he was closing his car door and bent it nearly 90 degrees completely destroying every usable part..
Surely buy another cheap mobile (probably second hand) phone? It depends on how many pointless features you want on the phone but a basic nokia that does calls and smses wouldn't be that much.
I know how you feel. I just broke my phone's screen the other day. I have the worst luck with phone screens. 1. Got smashed by a pallet at work. 2. smashed in my pocket against the chair at the movie theater. 3. smashed in my pocket when I fell asleep on it. Really the best thing you can do is find a cheap replacement phone somewhere or try and find the same phone on ebay with a good screen and replace it yourself.
Will probably list my phone on ebay as spares or repair and get another phone i've wanted. I know this phone didn't actually cost me anything since i traded in 2 phones i got free on contracts to get this one but i still don't like to see it get broken.
Umm, you could contact 3 or INQ and ask how much it would cost to be repaired? http://www.inqmobile.com/ If you can get insurance on it, that's certainly an option, albeit a dishonest one! Similarly dishonest, get one on contract, then send this one back and flog the other one! :110: The other option is to open it up and see what panel it uses. It should be something fairly available.
I believe if i've read right just now that i can transfer my insurance from one phone to another although i'd have to wait 14 days before i make a claim. I don't think i'll get one on a contract as i'm already on a contract. I could possibly try and fix it myself but knowing me i'd end up breaking it even more when taking the old screen out or putting in a new one. I'll contatc 3/INQ see if they can give me a price to fix the screen and if its resonable then i'd sendf it to them to fix it but if not then i'll ebay it.
I had a Nokia 3100.. broke the screen twice under acts of anger. First time, lobbed it at a wall.. Second time (using it as a stand in whilst waiting for my SIM to arrive) i smashed it into my desk in anger.. Poor thing is in a landfill now
Take it out on the person who angered you and put them in a landfill, not the phone...poor technology. Anyhoo, have you spoken to your service provider yet? They often give you replacement phones in some circumstances.
I didn't get this through my service provider as i had initially got a sony ericsson on a 18 month contract but i will be contacting them to see about wether they can fix it or not.
I seem to have fine luck with phones. my first mobile got water damaged but was not my fault. I got it second hand an it came that way. dropped calls alot. My second phone, still works to this day. though it has about 20 minute talk time. my third phone, a razr. Water damage. left it in my apron pocket at work, spilled an americano on myself. So not only was i burned, my phone didn't work. my fourth phone, a replacement razr...just died randomly. probably because i thought it'd be a good idea to sticki t in my back pocket because the jeans i like tend to have small pockets. my 5th phone, works fine. though it's taken a beating and it flicks open - it's like this - and then you use a thumb to push the top to the left and it flicks open like -- that. now it...flicks a little too much. I got mad the other night and threw it at graciano1337's door in his apartment. It hit it and it still works fine.
Yea Ive had good luck with phones too. I went swimming with my phone and it worked afterwards, Then about a year later it fell a lake and I went and got it, After opening it up and letting it dry completelly it still worked, Since then I usually change to a new service/newphone before I get a chance to harm it.
Don't think I ever had a phone break on me even thought I do tend to drop it in the floor and down stairs some times
I dropped my cell in a shark pool, I still reached in and grabbed it. Scared the shit out of a 6 foot shark! It was for not because the salt water ruined it. :icon_bigg
