Just Launched seller on Amazon JP-Items, $386 I took the plunge and bought a Framemeiester. Should be here in a month.

So what should I know/what do I need?

Good Cables of course, at least 1 system will go through RGB and I might buy a Selecty Box down the line from Solaris Japan.

    Component- Dterminal adapter?
I hear it's only just ok with 480p and above any truth to that?

Suggested settings? Tips for someone who barely knows what he's doing?

As for cables, take note that stock it comes with a JP21-MiniDIN adapter for the RGB. You're probably gonna want to buy a SCART-MiniDIN adapter if you're buying the commonly available cables and switches.

As for component-dterminal, yes...that is a thing, and probably one worth having for experimenting. But as you read, it's not always the ideal processor for 6+ gen consoles.

As for settings, use FirebrandX's profiles: http://www.firebrandx.com/framemeisterprofiles.html

If you don't get one with English firmware, you can go to their website and download it to a MicroSD card and reflash your unit. Also, I bought a IR remote overlay to "translate" the buttons on the remote to English.

When looking for RGB cables I search JP21 thanks to my life in gaming I learned RGB Scart and JP21 are not one in the same. Solaris Japan sells Saturn and PS1 JP21 cables, and I've found Genesis Model 1 JP21 so I think I'm alright.

I have the English firmware ready to go. When I order my Super Famicom I'm getting the overlay then.

Are there any other options for selector boxes for JP21 other than the Selecty?
Like say if I used a scart selector with only JP 21 cables. The Selecty is a bit pricey but it's the only switch box I know of. Aside from a Euro Scart selector I saw on Amazon.

https://www.retrogamingcables.co.uk/ has everything you need. Get CSync whenever possible.

I don't even use a scart selector. I use my consoles one at a time, and the connectors don't seem that fragile to me.

Did you email them? They are usually pretty responsive, and do custom orders.

It's better not to use SCART selectors. I had the Bandridge 5-way automatic SCART selector and it would add wavy distortions to the picture. Now I just plug the consoles directly to the SCART adapter and just plug/unplug when needed.

The switchers that are manual (have buttons) are not supposed to introduce distortions from what I read. They are mechanical switchers as opposed to electronic ones. I currently am doing the same as you by pluging in the SCART cable for whichever system I'm going to play at the time instead of using a switcher. I have thought about getting one of the mechanical switchers but I do have concerns about any signal quality decrease.

I had many problems with cheap RGB cables on my framemeister, but cables from https://www.retrogamingcables.co.uk/ works really great with it. Still wait for a dreamcast cable from them.

What's annoying about DC is that not all games work with RGB SCART. Some games like Skies of Arcadia have messed up picture, and other games simply won't boot and return to the DC's main menu. At first I thought my discs were not working due to scratches, but they all work fine through S-video. For now I'm back to using S-video for DC.

I use VGA for the majority of my DC games. I use SCART for the games I have that don't support VGA (like Bangai-O and Plasma Sword), and it works fine for those games. You're right that not all DC games support SCART, but those games usually support VGA. I've yet to find a game that doesn't support either VGA or SCART.

It's pretty ridiculous that 15khz RGBS isn't always supported when Composite and S-Video are. It really makes no sense. You shouldn't have to worry about how to connect your system based on which game you are playing.

I heard about that to but some of the nice scart switches are expensive as I recently modded my sony crt for rgb so I think I'm going to get a scart male to female cord and be done with it.

it's here...for $400 you'd think they'd include an HDMI cable. I still need the English overlay. I was not expecting it to show up today AT ALL.

At least 2 weeks before I can varify this thing even works. ARGH

    Ok guys HELP ME!

I got it plugged it, it turns on, I can barely navigate the menus with my Japanese illiteracy. I have a micro sd card, I plug it in, unit stays in standby and doesn't update. I'm guessing I need a different Micro SD card maybe a low capacity card?

I have absolutely no clue what I'm doing.

I HAVE however managed to at least verify that the unit works but with everything in Japanese I can only get so far.

You can change the menu to English. Can't tell you off hand how, but you can google it. I don't see any reason why you would need to update it.
