No definite information about the next XBox has been released yet, and even when Microsoft (or Sony, or any hardware or software manufacturer) make an announcement about a future product, then the information isn't 100% certain to be true, as things often change between official announcements and (sometimes very delayed) final release. Plus with modern consoles being company upgradeable (by updates to the console's operating system) then a feature that might not exist when the console is released could potentially be added at any time in the console's lifetime. As GodofHardcore says, there are a lot of rumours around at the moment, but we won't know anything for even remotely true until Microsoft's official announcement.
The no used games argument is an old one too. with the PS4 allowing used games it would be suicide for the nextbox not to.
Came here to say this. Not even Sony would go as low as to kill used games. Microsoft, while having made stupid shit like Vista and Bob and Windows 8, is not suicidal. Everything is unsubstatiated rumour-monging, until something is revealed. Let us just hope it's not an empty no-information reveal like PS4, and we actually see the system and games. But I, like GoH up here, think it's quite unlikely to do something that moronic.
MS has inflated bloated ego. And it will be their downfall from their #1 seat. Even if it doesn't block used sales. If they are still going to force me to pay 50$ a year to play games online with shitty P2P networking that I can do for Free on PC and PS3, shove ads down my throat on 90% of the dashboard regardless of whether I pay for XBL or not and don't give games attention that they deserve. I won't be buying one, and MS can go fuck off. The only exclusives MS has besides Halo and Forza are ones they pay(Read: Bribe with exclusivity agreements that may possibly fuck others over when there is a version of that game for another platform) for. Since this gen of MS/Sony consoles will be closer to PC than ever with x86 there should be more PC versions of Xbox games. And will most likely be cheaper, AND will have a legitimate reason for tying a game to something like a Steam Account.
Tethering? Like, an always-online requirement? Considering that Microsoft fired that staff member who created a huge controversy over always-online requirements, I suspect they know this is a hot potato issue that they probably shouldn't touch.
I recently read (rumor of course) that the always-online requirement for the next xbox will be left to the dev's choice...
yeah heard the same rumour but as usual will have to wait to see, dont think many dev's will implement it apart form EA who will be all over it like a fucking rash!
Gets worse by the generation, so I doubt it. Wii U was crap too, even though they were software bugs (that we know of) were causing the issues. Who knows though.
