Big storm over here in London town on Friday night after a heatwave, and a tremendous thunderclap right overhead at about 4am. Took out a circuit breaker, but also when I woke I discovered the 360 Slim (plus my Raspberry Pi and Chromecast) had been permanently buggered.

Basically when plugged in, hitting the power button or the eject button emit sounds but no lights, and the fan doesn't come on, and no signal. I've heard this can be due to something blowing related to the Southbridge, which sucks.

Anyway while I'm looking into an insurance claim a friend of mine has given me his own 360 Slim which is now my replacement. Woop!

But question: can I simply take out the 250GB HDD in the broken 360 and put it into the replacement one? Or do I need to do something to it first?

I used to do that to my phats all the time. (move the disk between them. ) I dont see why it should not work with the slim. The disk is made easy to remove too.

I think you should also transfer the content to the new console?
So the games will be shown as full versions when you're not online.

It probably had to much electricity running through it.
You should be able to just pull out HDD and have it run through a new console.
