hi I recently got turned onto the NEO-GEO, as far as I can tell the home console never had a Australian release as well as the turbo turbografx 16 and along the way researching led me to arcade cabinets and now I got the idea in my head that I could build my own but first I got a lot of education to catch up on have no intention of jumping into this half-cocked. so first off, where do I go to learn what I need to wire up a mvs ( besides the wiki ) and anything else I might need to be aware of? what cost would I expect this to run up? I see cabinet flat packs go for around $500, think a jigsaw and panels might be more entertaining. if someone could pass on their experience and advice to point me in the right direction ( not the exit ) I would much appreciate it. thanks all-
You know about the BYOAC forum? Don't know about wiring up a MVS, but I'm sure it's on there! http://forum.arcadecontrols.com/
You have two choices with MVS - make a home console from a 1 slot, or get a cab. The easiest option cab-wise is to get a MVS cab, but probably not the cheapest (they are sometimes out there for a bargain). The cheapest option would be to get a generic JAMMA cabinet then stick an MVS board in it. Obviously, you have to use an MVS fingerboard. That way, you can still play JAMMA games, too! The home route is basically to stick the MVS board on what people like to call a Supergun. Get one of them, an MVS board and a MVS fingerboard. That might well be your cheapest option... unless you can find a bargain of a cab!
