These guys followed me on twitter only way I found out about them. Apparently their Open source Linux console can write it's own games on it's own. http://www.otonx.com/ It's like the inverse of the 80s instead of every asshole and their mother making games for the Apple IIe, they're making their own console.
Pity there's no screenshots or demo vids on their site. Interesting concept but I can't imagine how this would work short of randomly generating maps over and over using built in presets and assets. Unless it a bit like LSD Dream Emulator but on crack.
Hmmm Random games have been around for 30 years or so. The oldest example were a text adventure game that printed out every move you made as monitor wasn't used back in the old time. Atari 2600 Adventure level 3 also has random pieces and dragons. Once in a while it's really unwinable because a key is locked inside the castle and you can't get it at all. Intellivision Dungeon & Dragons: Cloudy Mountain also had random terrain, random cave with random loot and monsters.
