I'm tired all the time recently, I mean sleep 12 hours a day tired.

    Anyone ever experience this?

I had the flu for two weeks recently people are telling me it's still part of recovery?

Do you live where there are a lot of trees? Rotting leaves are hell for a lot of people.

Try to remove lights and electronics from the place you sleep. These items influence the quality of your sleep. Also you could try Melatonin, it improves your sleep and sleep-wake cycle/

Go outside for a few hours every day to catch some natural daylight, keeps your hormones in balance.

I turn my electronics off in the place I sleep and take 6mg of melatonin. It works like a charm.

Diet and exercise, cut out the fast/junk food, sugar, caffeine, start jogging in the morning, etc.

It could be just still recovering from the flu. It can really take it out of you and take time to recover.

Not 100% sure what part of the world you're in (NYC?) but if it's similar to the UK in that winter is beginning (and our clocks have gone back an hour) so less light during the day, this can have an impact too. Best bet to beat this is to either try and get outside for a bit (walking etc) to get some sunlight, and/or take some vitamin D.

Too much sleep is bad. 6-8hours is the best.

Have you considered depression as a probable cause?

For many people, depression's only symptom can be tiredness and loss of interest in things; difficulty to concentrate, etc.

I agree with other posters, I'd include a melatonin supplement (i take it and it has done wonders for me), 3 miligrams a day 1 hour before going to bed. Also, don't oversleep. 8 hours of sleep is the best.
Always try to keep a schedule and go to bed at the same time every day.

Excercising for at least 20 minutes a day is also very good. Mild walks will do the work for you. If you can do that outside it's even better, don't use the treadmill unless you really have to (ie, it's raining or snowing outside).

Been through the same thing. No matter how I much I sleep I am always tired. :/

I would blame my anxiety disorder but what Rawit said about eletronics makes sense to me. My room is like a pokémon episode with all those blinking lights at night.

You don't drive your own car do you? Driving tired is worse than driving drunk.

if you've got a good diet, and check out from a physical, that much sleeping almost has to be at least a mild depression. Try doing something new, like find a new hobby, or pull an all night'r doing your favorite things. just break that 12hr sleep cycle, i agree with 6hrs ^^. unless work is very taxing then I would consider 9 (read somewhere the brain uses sleep best in 3hr cycles) but too much just makes you more tired and can make you more depressed. If sleep isn't fulfilling maybe you snore? it can actually disturb you from getting rest, the other suggestions about cutting out light and noise from your room at night sound good too.

I second k-pannng's theory, I haven't slept that long since I was deeply depressed. Might want to try getting out alot more to change your atmospher. Cause if your couped up inside like that most of the time it can mess with you mentally.
