This is one of those things where I know I should care more, but I know I just cant find the room to care.
I cant even humor it. Got too much else to concern myself over than this intercontinental dick waving contest.

Well, in France we don't talk that much about it, but I'm not really scared, I'm more annoyed at the fact this is just a race to see who has the biggest (bomb)

I'm more worried about war breaking out due to a mishap on North Korea's part rather than anything intentional, i.e. one of their "show of force" missiles unintentionally hitting land or an aircraft. Speaking of which, they're supposed to be launching another one for yet another one of their million holidays they seem to always have.

Such mishap isn't a reason for war unless it will be a live nuke that will kill millions. More than 10 such accidents happened during military exercises in last 60 years, no wars still. Just formal apology and a huge sum of money, that's about it.

Considering how Trump and NK's leader are acting, surely an accident like this would cause a war.

Yep and they pricks in North Korea are planning to shoot another this Saturday to celebrate their constitution or something. I can't keep up with all the bloody holidays they have. And I though Japan had a lot.

This has to be one of the most interesting 3-way borders in the world. What goes on here? It has to be a rather significant spot historically.

The USSR helped China and NK out quite a lot. China helped NK. China became a lot more independent, while NK remained isolated and suffered quite a lot after the Soviet collapse and the death of Kim il-Sung.

It would be unwise for either China or Russia to go to war. China has made some truly great strides since the 20th Century (their Century of Humiliation) and it probably would not want to risk undoing all of that. Russia is still tremendously unstable and its Far East was drastically weakened after the fall of the Soviet Union (harsh climate, geographic isolation, shrinking population in established cities like Vladivostok). I believe they were giving away land on Sakhalin for free as recently as last year.

North Korea seems like it has nothing to lose - like it would rather go out in a bang than die laying down. The government appears to be thirsty for war, or at least reverence. Hopefully there are no strong contingencies or unseen puppet strings in regards to a counter-attack on it by the west. If there are, it will be a measure of nostalgic bad blood vs. the weight of past trauma.

The 100th Anniversary of the October Revolution is drawing near. Will it have any significance in all of this, or will it simply be a time to reflect? I guess we'll find out soon.

Nah. They just got a lesson. Yugoslavia, Libya, Iraq etc. No nukes and you're trying to be independent? You'll get rolled over and your country will be in ruins with civil war, terrorists and other stuff. Also human behavior isn't that different from animal one, and that includes politics. Small animals and insect, who can't fight back often develop defensive measures which makes them taste bad or deadly if you'll try to eat them, or it will hurt you if you'll touch them. It's a bad idea to try to bite a hedgehog or a poisonous frog, and i'm sure you won't try to kick a skunk.

So does NK - you won't run to a country with guns blazing if it got nukes. If they will have just a few missiles capable of hitting US territory or at least military bases that will be unacceptable risk. And that's the only reason why they are in that hedgehog stance, and the only reason why they don't get invaded yet by a people who think that international laws, conventions etc. are for the peasa others, and they are "exceptional" and can do whatever they want.

    LOL

    Interesting analogy.

We shall see. Who would have known the world would be where it is today just a handful of years ago? All we can do is speculate.

Not nearly as much as you would think, only through to the mid 50s did either North Korea or China receive much assistance from the Soviet Union. Hell, China and the Soviet Union almost went to war in 1969.

Any info on the gaming market there? PC/mobile games? Bootleg? Goods smuggled in from SK or China? Likely scant, but there has to be something.

I wonder if Kim has a PSN account.
