While just a few blocks away, other shops are selling it for 1/3 that price. :banghead:

I've almost got all the games I want. The ones I don't, I've got tagged on rakuten.co.jp and might just order them online. Ironically enough, most of the software I want is on the PC Engine. I usually pass by the things I want because I'm not willing to pay 3,000yen+ for a game that I'd pretty damn sure will eventually turn up for 1000yen. Still want a couple more systems as well, but for the most part I've got everything game related I've ever wanted out of Japan. Will all the cool stuff available in the past 5 years still be around in the next 5? It'll definitely be harder to find most stuff, I'd think.

For the most part, there's very little console stuff that becomes amazingly hard to find. You simply have to be more patient.

this is where i am kicking myself - there used to be a great store that was down the street that runs up/down from Super Potato. The second floor used to be chock full of x68k, marty, etc stuff when i first got here - but i already had enough on my hands stocking up with PCE stuff :/

i think i have an old picture from in there....

ah, not very good ones - just boxes - but still :D

i tend to see the same three or four guys every single time i'm in aki armed with clip boards and bundles of games. Good for them really, i'm too lazy to get off my ass and exhibit any entrepeneur tendencies!

That was Loose Logic, the only place in akihabara that had games for computers from the Fujitsu FM Towns (Although only a shelf), Sharp X68000 (tons of games), NEC PC-9801 (I bought a couple of games here), MSX, Fujitsu FM-7/77 (bought a Urusei Yatsura game), NEC PC-8801, NEC PC-6001, Sharp X1 and many others, even had Commodore Maxx games here too. It also had a nice display case of rare games and electronic games and it had Mark III and Famicom games at half the price of most places (except the rare games), it was over two floors too. The only place I saw with a X68000 computer on sale...

It closed in 2006, which was sad :(

Always get the urge to push those guys with clipboards down the stairs. Although it sometimes it's cheaper to buy games on Ebay then you can buy them in Akihabara...

Super Potato has a 68000 for sale right now. Not many (any?) games, though. They still have a fair number of MSX overpriced games, at least.

came back via Aki last night - been a good while since i was there for shopping and super potato seem to have had a bit of a price drop seemingly across the board.

Either that or i don't remember games like ex-ranza going for 2980 yen (well, i don't remember it going for 2980 yen in Super Potato!)

heh, i got my original copy for 180 yen in a Chameleon Club cock up (along with a load of other PC E games, also got Chip Chan Kick for the same price :O ) - i bought Dracula X back though for around 4000 yen from Galaxy. Grubby box, no spine card, but hey... 4000 yen seemed about right.

Chameleon Club are pathetic for cock-ups. I used to shop in the local one many a time until I got fed up having to go back time and time again because of their cock-ups. Wrong game in the box, missing discs, trying to sell me a SFC game while telling me that I couldn't have the box because they needed it for display. pathetic chain of stores!

yeah, they really are hit and miss. The one it Toritsu Daigaku was pretty kick ass back in 2001-2002 simply because for most of that time they had no idea what the value of the retro games they stocked was , but then they wised up a bit and thier prices on retro started going up to above crazy aki levels. That said, they consistantly let the wife break street dates on new stuff so that was handy too!

But yeah, for each good one, there's a ton of crappy ones. The one near matsubara is awful. The one in Chitosekurasuyama was insanely kick ass back in 2000 too, but not been there since then - heard from someone that it had gone down the crapper too.

Gah... now i want to go shopping. Damn you full time employment :shakesfist:

It fairly commonly shows up in the junk bin at Super Potato for around 4000yen. I got mine like that. Everything was perfect other than the jewel case having a few light scratches and the spine card missing.

The current junk PCE Dracula X there is 6000 I think.

I'm thinking of going up to Tokyo this "2nd Goldenweek" but with no spends it maybe just a dream :crying: Shame really because I would like to check out the new Akihabra just to see how much it has changed from the glory days of 10 to 14 years ago when you could walk down the main and back streets and not move for demo game kiosks cluttering up the pavement. Last time I went in 2005 there was next to nothing. It sure looked as if the magic had gone. Even that park around the back of the main street between the shops and the railway had been replaced by a massive new building which I've never seen completed.

yeah, the sparkle has all but gone. Denden town (though i've not been there for about 2 years either) felt more like old Aki than Aki does.

the "date course" used to be horrific in Aki and you'd struggle to get round all the stores. We used to do a loop that would see us back in the Beer Express bar above Ueno station so we could go through all the stuff we'd picked up (which then changed to Tengu after it's demise).

Still, i guess on the bright side we were going to eat in Carne Station - the options now are way way improved on that front at least.

but yeah, traders in its old location, then the "happy tower" next to Messe Sanoh, umpteen back street places, previously five pcb places to hit, a media land that didn't suck balls, try arcade tower in it's glory days...

somewhat sad but glad i didn't miss it.

Yeah, it will be cool to meet, have a few, no a lot of drinks and a bit of shopping. If I go a friend of mine said i can use his place while he's away which is cool but the main problem is spending funds. Only in the last month I've had to buy new tiers for my car that cost 135'000 yen! Pay off the last of my car loan and buy a backyard fence for the house. The prices of fences in Japan is beyond stupid. People here are idiots paying so much, myself included but at least I know better. And to top it all off my car now needs the transmission fluid changing which I can't do because it requires a shit load of work unlike Clutch fluid or an oil change. So more money again :(

Funny, isn't it. Months go by with nothing needed then it all comes at once. I bet the fridge freezer will die next
