I spent Haloween doing homework, but later after all the van/bus loads of kids left I went to the park with some friends and lit off fireworks.
"And no more Doctors of Journalism would drive across the country in fireapple-red convertibles..." :smt033 Glad to see I'm not the only Thompsonite here :smt043 On topic: They don't really do Halloween here in Holland, and even though my dad is from the US, he doesnt really care for tradition so I forgot about the whole deal :smt043
Went out, cant stand little brats knocking on the door all night! You Americans may think haloween is cool, but I think it sucks!
Nope, just "Fear and Loathing and other American stories" (though I saw the movie about a dozen times). His books are damn hard to come by in this part of the world :angry
Actually, giving out candy is boring when you arent trying to scare people. I did that one year and made a lot of kids cry....and I almost gave an old woman a heart attack! p.s. It seems like our town didnt have much trick or treating htis year. I think a lot of americans dont like it..anymore, at least. my grandpa said it was fun when it was people you know, but when strangers come to your door..its not fun anymore.
Comes highly recommended, it's more engaging (to me) than his other real-world commentary material. The Rum Diary is worth tracking down, as is Hell's Angels (although take it with a pinch of salt: it's rubbished by the Angels themselves). If you're into that sort of thing, you need to read the inspirations: Wolfe, Kerouac and Burroughs, amongst others.
