for fans of Tim Schafer(Secret of Monkey Island, LeChuck's Revenge, Grim Fandango, Psychonauts), metal music(108 tracks from likes of Megadeth, Motorhead, Ozzy, Judas Priest, Testament, etc...), Jack Black (Tenacious D, School of Rock), adventure games, mixed with other genres - this is a must have no doubt. love the ad, Jack Black as Eddie Riggs and Tim Schafer: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kvuZDSLHP9s who's excited for this epic adventure?
excellent, I know there are plenty of european metal heads excited for this unique title  I wonder if the strategy part will be big part of the game. it's already 10th and there isn't a single review out... hopefully it scores big and sells well, double fine deserves a break(psychonauts was fantastic but sold rather poorly).
Me also. After playing the demo, I'm very excited. Probably won't buy it off the bat though, due to the extortionate prices for new releases.
Is it me or did God Of War do the same thing? I can't seem to appreciate the subtle differences between these games, they all play the same and feel like a ride more than a game.
Would someone please explain what exactly makes this Jack Black dude anywhere near cool? I always found him and his movies unbelievably annoying and stupid. Actually his appearance as the main character makes me want to NOT buy this game.
could you please open your mind and take a look at the game instead of taking personal vendetta against fine actor/musician? :110: for starters I recommend movie school of rock. anyway, first review is up: ign loved it, gave it 9.0/10 and ign au gave it 9.3/10 http://xbox360.ign.com/articles/103/1030770p2.html
On a side note, I don't like Jack Black...because I don't like his music and I don't like musicals at all - which he seems to have a fondness for. I know he's supposed to be funny - I 've laughed- but I just can't take him seriously. Tenacious D aren't a real band in my book PS: with the exception of Rocky Horror Picture Show.
I was referring to his movies and meant especially School Of Rock... I did not enjoy that movie. I have to admit that saying 'he makes me want to not buy it' like I did above is a bit harsh, but I can't stand the guy. I read his Wiki entry to find out what he's done that makes him the only thinkable main character in this game instead of one of the other thousand modern rock 'legends' out there, and have so far found nothing. That's why I asked. But I see you're obviously a big fan of him and so I think I'll just leave it at that, I didn't mean to insult you or your taste. Enjoy the game. But from what I've played it's not a must-have title for most people.
I'm not a big fan by any stretch of imagination but I think he's fine at what he does, it's just the internet and "I don't like him so I won't buy the game" notion is very strange ;-)
weeeell..considering the game's protagonist looks like him, sounds like him ans sings like him, I'd say that not liking him is a valid ground for rejecting his game, although I d still play it if the gameplay interested me, which it doesnt=/
What Barc0de said. I've been playing it for a few hours now and it turned into some kind of RTS with extremely bad combat system. Less brütality than UT or Postal or Wolfenstein or ..., boring hack-n-slashing, invisible walls (not too many but still), extremely repetitive missions > AC1, humour that does not speak to me. So yeah. At least Ozzy's in.
I agree that Jack Black is painfully unfunny, but this game looks good, and Tim Schaefer can almost do no wrong. Also, if you don't want to pay full price, Play-Asia has the 360 Asia version, without region protection, pretty cheap.
I played the first couple missions. I like it so far. The opening was hilarious. The band was spot on.
Taking a band seriously usually means enjoying it, listening to it because you either like the lyrics or the music. Of course I ve laughed with some of their stuff but I avoid listening to it when I m in a mood to enjoy music.
