Softmod possible with ANY Version of Splinter cell Platinum hits?

So, I got a copy of splinter cell off of amazon, but it turned out to be a platinum hits edition. I don't want to have to wait for another copy to arrive AGAIN. Is it possible to softmod with a 510130-DVDP Version of the disc without errors?

 

Nope. Period. Need the classic disk.

 

Platinum Hits of Agent Under Fire will work (apparently) best to be safe using a black label copy of any exploitable game.

 

I have used that copy before. I have one in my hands that works fine. It is mechassault that does not work with the platinum. The disc I have is 510130-DVDP and I just tried it on a virgin xbox and it is fine. Maybe it is the softmod files I am using. They are the SID 5.12 package. But they are just a updated version of SID 5.11. In case it is the files for the soft mod I am using that allows that disc to work I included a link for it.

I had always read that you have to use the original black label edition for it to work. Either everyone is wrong or the SID files were updated and I never got those updated files. I don't even know what my SID package revision is. Need to check that and get those updated 5.12 files if I don't have them already.

 

I also use the USB version and maybe that is the reason? In a little bit I will try the memory card version. Maybe the USB version has different files that the splinter cell does not recognize as the soft mod.

I did try the mechassault platinum version and that did not work at all. I also have not tried any versions of the 007 game.

 

Just a certain platinum AUF won't work....

 

I never had any version of the agent under fire so I never got the chance to try it out. I just got a brand new Samsung SD-616 ver.T PC DVD drive today from a yard sale of all places. It was still in the reddish colored bag. I am gonna flash it and wire in the xbox DVD wire for the motherboard. This way I can make a virgin xbox play burned media. This will make TSOP flashing so much easier! I also will not need any original copies of any of the soft mod games. I can just use a burned copy and sell of the splinter cell that I have. I have that platinum copy of splinter cell but is scratched badly but works fine for the soft mod. But I also have a mint copy of the original black label copy of splinter cell. I really wont need it any more now either.

 

All versions of Splinter Cell work - original, Platinum Hits, Classics, all of them, without exception. That's why it's so popular for softmodding. It also doesn't matter which softmod installer you are using (Krayzie, SID, any of the older ones), they all work.

It's 007:AUF and MechAssault where you need specific versions. For AUF it's as per HEXIGON's post, for MechAssault you have to look at the number etched on the silvered side of the disc, adjacent to the spindle. If it says MS02301L then it will work, if it says MS02308L (or indeed any other number) then it won't.

 

How about the not for resale version of mechassault? I cant get to the disk to check it. I just figure someone here would know if it would work or not. Are those not for resale copies early or later in the production?
