Hey everyone, this isn't a LaserActive question (despite the icon on the thread), but it's close enough. I recently acquired two nice pieces. They're Dragon's Lair and Thayer's Quest for the Software Corner LDG Laserdisc system. They're made in Germany and had no release over here. Here's a PDF on the system for your information: http://www.dragonslairfans.com/flyers/LDG.pdf The games are sealed so I'm not willing to open them to play them on a regular LD player, and I won't invest in an Amiga, the interface, player, and the super-obscure software needed to play these, but I am collecting the discs and looking to complete the collection. They're kind of cheap, with a low-res print on the cover, and nothing on the back. The inside of the discs look like this: The PDF shows six titles: Dragon's Lair, Thayer's Quest, Space Ace, Firefox, Shadow of the Stars, and Voyage to the New World. From what I understand, the second two were never made, Firefox was never released for the sys, and Space Ace has a strange serial number CDV 7384 AL and I've never seen it pop up anywhere (LDDB link here: http://www.lddb.com/laserdisc/53444/CDV-7384-AL/Space-Ace-(1983). So far I've collected Dragon's Lair and Thayer's Quest at $110 and $75 respectively, a steal given how rarely these appear on the 'bay. My question to the well-informed: Does Space Ace exist? How about Firefox? And does anyone know about Shadow of the Stars and Voyage to the New World? Voyage was slated for the unreleased Halcyon system, evinced by this trailer: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ozNrWg7hwGU As was Shadow of the Stars here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=j1QVh22keuc Any info would be greatly appreciated. Thanks, Eric
As far I can tell you only Dragon's Lair and Thayer's Quest were released in "big" number. The first batch of Dragon's Lair were just an arcade (european release) disc with a different hub label (installed over the original one). This type of disc suffer badly from Laser rot. The second batch (the one you have) have the video shifted by around 70 frames IIRC. This type of disc are MUCH more reliable than the original arcade one. at this point LDG seem that got sued and they released Space Ace without their name on it. The hub label and the disc sleeve are just white. only 100 Space Ace were made (the story say this) Space Ace, LDG version, use digital audio, while the arcade edition have analogue audio track
