    What is this particular item

This is the essentially the grandfather of the Sega Dreamcast as we know it, probably after the Dural / Blackbelt phase and one of the earliest examples of the system in its Katana roadmap. There really isn't much to it - it is basically an alpha / prototype version of the PowerVR CLX2 GPU with the bare minimum of stuff to use it and there is no SH4 or AICA yet either - they are emulated by the host PC.

In terms of usefulness, it can only really run a few samples which are provided in the Katana R2 SDK such as the infamous SCUD Race tech demo. You can of course write your own software for it, but bear in mind if you wanted it to work on a retail Dreamcast you'd probably have to write it all over again. W

What it did do was allow developers to get a preview into the Sega Dreamcast development environment so when newer kits shipped they had a rough idea of where and how to get started, but really it is more of an oddity and collectors item than something you would make use of regularly.

OK, so why are you selling it?

I'm due to move home in a couple of weeks and I really don't have the space to bring everything with me, so I'm selling off the things I may regrettably live without in order to make room for the items I would most likely use more often. Unlike my previous sales, I don't actually need the money this time around lol. If you are wondering how one over sized board could complicate a house move, in order to use it you need a dedicated PC with not one but TWO monitors. I really won't have space for that any more :(

    Price?

First and foremost I'd rather it go to a Sega Dreamcast collector. If you don't meet this minimum criteria please don't ask for it, though if there is a lack of ability to pay I may entertain other interested parties on a first come first served basis.

I think I paid around £200 a year ago, so I want £205 for it (to account for inflation, not profiteer!)

Shipping within the UK should be no more than £5, Europe £10 and Rest of the world £15 at most.

    Any questions?
