Looks like Eternal champions, “golfâ€￾, Streets of rage 3, and some label I can’t read. Believe it or not, I haven’t even tested them; I can’t find my Genesis AC adaptor. More interesting is several CD's I have filled with a TON of beta games. A bunch of Phantasy Star 4, and Sonic betas too. Looks like I’m going to have to fire up ye’ old trusty EPROM programmer soon!

They're not safe at all. Bit rot will be setting in no matter how well preserved they are. The top end life of an EPROM is supposed to be about 25 years under good conditions; these must be 10-15 already so in another 10 years they are very likely to have degraded beyond use.

Even if you don't intend to distribute them, backing them up to your PC now is a good idea. You may not be that interested in them but us fanatics would go wild for a new Sonic beta ;)

Mate, you'd make our collective days if you did... or at least mine. I find betas and unreleased games completely fascinating.

Not to mention the Sonic community would be bouncing off the walls if you managed to uncover a new beta.

What ever happened to this stuff? Some of the regulars here told me it was a joke. Was that true?
