Recently I've started running all my favourite SNES games on Super Everdrive to see if they are working fine. Most of games works fine but still some does not work: American Tail, Fievel goes west (tried all in GoodSNES) Alcahest (translation is not working but on tototek card is working fine) Choujikuu Yousai Macross (does not work but works on tototek card) Dezaemon (probably will not be work because SRAM for this game is 128kb, right?) Super Noah Ark 3D (does not work but work on tototek card) Any solutions, suggestions how to force does games to work?
most usuall reason it is wrong data in rom header, so cart can't recognize rom type and perform correct configuration. about 128k save: it could be a reason all possible reasons: 1)wrong data in rom header 2)spec chps or sram more than 32k 3)bad dump it is all
Alcahest works fine on tototek cart so recognise is problem I think. American Tail does not work on both cards so I don't know what is the problem. Super Noah 3D is unlicensed game so maybe custom CIC is a problem. Choujikuu Yousai Macross - probably spec is wrongly detected (in everdrive says loROM but in ucon64 says HiROM) Any solution Krikzz?
Super Noah's Ark 3D was an unlicensed game indeed, and required you to insert a licensed SNES game into the top of it so that it would work. So that likely has something to do with it. All of the others are probably a header problem, although I found Alcahest on romhustler and the Japanese version works. The English translated rom does not. I tried redoing the header with one of couple tools I found on the web, didn't help. I'm assuming that since this rom is larger than the original by 128KB, they added something to it, but didn't bother to compile it correctly so it would run on real hardware. The guys who hacked these old roms likely didn't test it on a real system. Try the rom on BSNES emulator, that one is as close as you can get to real hardware.
Super Noah's Ark 3D require a game on top of it only for the CIC bypass. This game works on Super Powerpak, I haven't tried it on Super Everdrive.
Indeed japanese version works but it's japanese so playing is rather hard. Translated version is slighty bigger but work on tototek card so in theory it should work also on everdrive. Super Noah also works on tototek but since (as You said) req. original cart on the top custom CIC might problem for this game. That's why it works in tototek card - CIC is original. Still I cannot understand why macross rom is wrongly detected (detected as low but should be high). Dezaemon will not work - sram is 128kb so it's impossible to correctly run this one.
Hi everyone, I have just installed the DSP1 chip into my everdrive and have had mixed results. most games I have tested work fine. One game I cannot get working is Pilot Wings. I have try 2 different roms. US and EU. The game started fine and I get through the first few screen until the game starts. I hear the game music but I have a blank screen. Other games that have DSP1 chip are working fine such as Lock-on and Suzuka 8 hour. I have a fully modded SNES with 50/60hz switch. I also have a stock pal and get the same results. Any ideas? What are other people's experiences with running these roms on a DSP1 Everdrive?
You might want to read this thread:- http://www.assemblergames.com/forums/showthread.php?t=31640&page=2 Basically you need to find a patched/fixed Pilotwings ROM.
PERFECT!! I downloaded some different roms and they work!! Thanks for your help. Can you tell me what the difference is with [!] , [f1] etc?
STANDARD CODE NOTES [a] This is simply an alternate version of a ROM. Many games have been re-released to fix bugs or even to eliminate Game Genie codes (Yes, Nintendo hates that device). A bad dump often occurs with an older game or a faulty dumper (bad connection). Another common source of ROMs is a corrupted upload to a release FTP. [f] A fixed game has been altered in some way so that it will run better on a copier or emulator. [h] Something in this ROM is not quite as it should be. Often a hacked ROM simply has a changed header or has been enabled to run in different regions. Other times it could be a release group intro, or just some kind of cheating or funny hack. [o] An overdumped ROM image has more data than is actually in the cart. The extra information means nothing and is removed from the true image. [t] A trainer is special code which executes before the game is begun. It allows you to access cheats from a menu. [!] Verified good dump. Thank God for these!
