The best part is that we can actually do this in software now with the latest exploits. Doesn't diminish the awesomeness of this project though. Kudos to him for seeing it through. New 3DS doesn't have the new encryption keys, unless you can spoof the firmware version for eShop then you'd be able to. I haven't looked into it lately at all.
Nice read. The guy is really fun. (I mean, the text style) And who tought that some faceplates would encourage that.
I don't see why not, though you couldn't use N3DS chips for it (it would probably crash looking for the C-stick and Z buttons), if you really wanted a Japanese 2DS.
