Unfortunately that type of switch sticks up directly from the PCB, and whilst that would make it easier to fit the game case it would make packaging the Everdrive-MD much more difficult for KRIKzz.

Since almost 2/3 of the votes now want to keep the pause button, is it going to stay? (Especially since some SMS games need it for menus/cheats etc) If so what about using a low profile button?

    What about this?:-

We really need a button that has a lower profile body that the current button so that it will fit into the casing easier and not twist the PCB. It also needs to be easy for KRIKzz to order to the Ukraine, or easy for somebody else to order for him and send them on.

KRIKzz, is it possible you could tell us the part number/datasheet of the button you were previously using? It would be good to know the dimensions of the switch body. Also, what is the maximum cost per button needed to keep Everdrive-MD at same price?

i use buttons same like shown in marshallh post. this button type called SWT-3. your button has same height like swt-3, so pcb will be twisted. swt-3 cost it is some near to 10 cents

Well, the lead (to add your own button) will still be there on the board, right? Seems that many people could care less about the pause button on the SMS (although I am not one of them), but I figure if you kept the option on the PCB available for someone to easily add their own button that should be ok, no?

So KRIKzz, you are asking whether you can simply not include the SMS pause button, but we can still solder the button on ourselves?

Having bought one from your last batch, I can say that I very much appreciate that button being included. I can also say that soldering it on the board myself would have been no problem.

I may have simply "suffered" without it for a while because I haven't played much SMS using the Everdrive yet. I don't like unhooking my 32X, and my second Genesis 1 stopped powering on shortly after my Everdrive arrived.

It's just too bad that there is no workaround to getting the Genesis controller's Start button to pause SMS games.

so the pcb isnt warped inside the cart the button could be mounted external
just thinking out loud i suppose
for the purists out there it wouldnt look right but may be an alternate solution for someone to consider

My Everdrive doesn't have the pause button. Unfortunately I don't know anything about pcb's and soldering. Can anybody tell me what kind of part I need and if there's any steps necessary to install it beyond just soldering it into the holes? (Sounds too simple!)

As long as the option to solder your own option is there, I have no problem.

MS games are low priority, but it's nice to have the option.

I havnt used the recomended button
ive drilled a 1cm hole in the back topright corner of the cart and glued the button into place on the inside and wired it up to the pcb
works good so long as you dont have sausage fingers

internally theres no warping of the pcb but please excuse my ghetto soldering skillz
it dosnt look too shoddy when the cart is back together

for some this might not be the best option as it means that the pcb is hard wired to the case
