Not the most amazing find in the world, but literally found on pure luck. I went to a game shop the other day and was about to leave but decided to buy something to make it worth my while. I was standing in the Nintendo cart section and randomly grabbed a Nintendo Power cart on the shelf next to me without even reading the details. Total cost was 1,000 yen or about $12. I get home and boot it up and see that it has a game on it, Sutte Hakkun. I do a search on eBay and see the store version sells for about $140. I do some research and find out that the game was originally released on the Satellaview, and due to popular demand they decided to expand the game and make it available on the Nintendo Power network. You had to go to Lawson's convenience store and download it onto the cart. A year later Nintendo decided to release an actual store version with a proper box and instructions. So what this is is the full version first available on cartridge before it was released as an actual shop title. The box also includes the original Lawson's receipt from over 10 years ago with a price of 2,000 yen. And I like original receipts. Overall, pretty lucky find since I literally could have grabbed 1,000 other items....
Sweet find Eric!! And btw, it looks as minty as it gets! The receipt looks mint too, lucky that the carbon didn't fade, being it 10 years old.
Well if you know the store called Manga Souko from Yakumo's posts then you've seen pictures of it and know that I could have chosen just about anything...heh. It all came down to my girlfriend. She doesn't like game shops and it's far from my house and we spent an hour there so I couldn't NOT buy anything. I was looking for a Super Famicom power cord so I was in that section. I realized it was time to go to I literally just grabbed the Nintendo Power carts from the shelf and made some cheesy line about dinner being paid for as if that would make her lost time seem more easy to deal with...heh. In all reality I was expecting to at best get my money back on them. If she wasn't with me I wouldn't have bought anything. So yeah, completely random, and completely lucky.... Isn't my girlfriend cool? Yeah, it will be on eBay on Thursday. I buy to document and resell. One of these days I really will get around to releasing all of my info in an updated website....one day....heh
Two years ago I bought the non-NP release on YA for less than 3000 Yen (CIB). It's one of my favorite titles for the SFC but while it's rare it's also not much sought after. I was the only bidder at that time. Still, a great find and you might get lucky again and find a buyer who doesn't want to look any further and wouldn't mind spending 100+ USD on it.
