Hey everyone, this is my first post!

I've had this Dreamcast for quite a while now (I won it in some competition years ago), and have always wondered if it was worth anything, or at least more than a regular DC. Having come across several websites mentioning it, (This is one, though it's translated from German), I thought I'd try and find out some more about it.

Link to the image, 'cos it's too big for here.
    Thanks!

Sorry about that! If a mod could move it to the right forum, I'd really appreciate it, otherwise I'll go post it again.

And while I am trying to find out what it's worth, I am interested in selling it.
My biggest problem is deciding whether I should sell it NOW, or wait a few years in the hopes it will increase in value, maybe in time for Sonic's 25th anniversary. :p

Any of you huys know if the prices of these has gone up recently, or down? I see somebody bought one for €1200 - anybody else bought/sold one, and could tell me how much they got?

If you want to sell it please make an advert in the correct forum after reading the rules in the marketplace.

Well that was only in february, not much has changed since then.
These sell quite irregularly, so the price is generally "However much anyone will pay"

    Haha, I didn't sold it!
Kept it for my collection aslong some other LE Dreamcasts (Custom, Sonic, ChuChuRocket)

@Blork: You've got a VERY RARE console. Sonic 10th. anniversary edition DC is limited to 50 pieces and thus the rarest "regular" LE Dreamcast console. Well, it's also rarer than the higly thought after Custom 78 DC.

Collectors price is about 1000-1400.- Euro depending on units condition. I won't ever sell - it's cool, it's great, it's from Europe and it's Sega. For a possibly sale i would wait until rumours about Yuji Naka leaving Sega clear. I he leaves i bet that objects signed by him with Sonic Team attachment will rise in price.

I thought the Partners would go for more than that, but then again it's the first time I've seen it sold on eBay. I would have bid on it if I had found it before the close. Vince will give it a good home, tho.

I have a question though for you all dc collectors:
how come those customs78 and sonic dcs are so rare and many collectors around have one?
Really that's weird...only 50 pieces but I already know oquite a good number of people owning custom78 or sonic dcs...

You're observation is a valid point to make, but I think there's a few reasons to explain it:

    1. Because the games community around the Dreamcast is small relative to the world's population, you're possibly mixing a (genuine) perception of the world being huge, but forgetting alot of the western DC games collectors 'hang around' the same virtual places (here, DCH, NTSC etc).

If you never went near a games forum or games website in your life then statistically you'd probably never see a Custom or Sonic in your whole life.

    2. Historically the owner ship of these rarer DCs were dominated by Japanese collectors. However, as they have appeared on Yahoo JP they have (alot of the time) been bought by western traders or collectors. The result is that there's probably a higher number of limited DCs in western hands. This again increases the perception of there being alot of these DCs.

    3. The limited DCs change hands alot, as people sell for money, refocus their collecting interest etc. So over a period of 2-3 years alot of people appear to have these limited DCs.

    4. There are 78 (or 79) Custom DCs. That's quite a lot. This is safely taken as fact I think without much dispute.

There are 25-50 Sonic DCs. That's quite a few too.

I'd expect to know a few people owning each of these two DCs, and I do too - seems normal to me, as they're all DC collectors amoungst other things.

I see your points and I think they are all good points but the ones I quoted seem to me to be very real points.
There are simple too many custom dcs compared to possibey interested collectors(78 is a lot if you think that thing is totally awful and you have to be a real hardcore collector to be after that-say you have already all them all...)

The sonic dc is rarer but has a big flaw:it is european version machine and many hardcore collectors only collect jap machine.

Also, last point is unclear to me:ground zero mentioned the signed maziora:was that euro release as well like sonic dc and it is as rare as that?

Quite possibly true. In the west I can't think of more than 10 people who'd pay the money for a Custom(anyone go higher than 10?). In Japan I'd expect there'd be alot more collectors who'd cough up the cash. But like you say - can there be 78 collectors with enough will power to spend that kind of money?

    >>The sonic dc is rarer but has a big flaw:it is european version machine
Personally, I think it's a strength not a flaw that it's a rare European machine, where the majority of limited editions were Japanese.

Maziora was only released in Japan. The signed ones were done at the motorcycle race track on its release (I believe).

I like european limited edition units - especially if they are really rare.
Sonic 10th. anniversary edition DC is great. The only bad thing about it is that it just comes in a retail box and has no LE nr. on the back like the Custom or Biohazards DC's.

There are some signed Maziora DC's. I think on it's first day of sale it was available at a motorcycle race in Japan. It was signed by a famous motorcycle driver then and comes attached with a special numbered letter of the team.
I've to look at home for further informations. A signed Maziora DC is extremely rare! I only know two people who own one.

I think 50 units (sonic DC) or 78 units (Custom DC) aren't that much. There are many people who like to have one but the main reason most aren't interested is the price. Who wants to pump 2000.- Euro in a console - that's insane and only interesting for die-hard collectors. And there aren't so many die-hard collectors.
For me it's nice to have them and in future i will only go for such REALLY rare systems. Everything with a limitation of 200 pieces or less is great - the rest is for the masses. ;)

Your wording makes it sound like Euro only.

I remember that there was a contest on the US Sega site to win a Sonic Dreamcast signed by Yuji Naka as a SA2 promo. I'm 99% sure that the picture on SOA's website of it was the same kind of DC in the posted picture. (For the contest, you'd have to answer questions like, "What is the name of the SOAP shoes does Sonic wears?") So I don't think it's a Euro only console.

Well,I like US or european limited edition consoles as well but many collectors are only after japanese stuff in my experience...

I have to agree...sonic dcs seems to be very rare if only limted to 50 pieces worldwide.
Would be also cool to know more about signed mazora ground zero...I know it was the very first limted dc edition released.

Found the information. The Maziora DC was signed by a race driver from team TRC = Tara Racing Corpotation.
Don't know his name but in comparison to the regular LE Maziora console it comes with a special letter that is numbered.
Should be able with a little google search to find infos about the guy who signed it.

Thanks for the info Ground zero.
How much money are we atlking about here?
In details, how much would be needed to get:
    mint custom78
    mint mazora signed
    mint sonic

I guess each will cost more than $1000...from what I gathered from the posts above.
