Hello, I've spent all afternoon trying to get the Sonic Adventure 2 prototype (2001-05-03 build) to boot on nullDC/Makaron. The initial download appears to be a raw rip of the GDI tracks, which I extracte dthe data from and used BootDreams to build into a GDI. nullDC now recognizes the CDI when booting, but during the SEGA splash screen, nullDC locks up. Here's a screenshot: I have tried running the emulators with both the normal and Katana devkit BIOS, but to no avail. I am relatively new to Dreamcast hacking, so I most likely am doing something wrong. Can someone please help? Thanks, -w0ffen
I don't know about the prototype build specifically, but Sonic Adventure 2 has copy protection schemes in it that prevent you from just running it as a MIL-CD (CDI format).
Why don't you simply boot the GDI itself? Otherwise, @darcagn is right, SA2 got copy protections, HACK4 should handle them. Manually, do these substitution in the 1st_read.bin: CDE4 436A -> 0900 0900 1032 00D8B to 0800 0D8B I don't know much about BootDreams, but you can check my signature for my sb pack to see if that helps you.
It sounds like he wants to make modifications to it I think. I don't know much about BootDreams either, but I'm pretty sure it's no good for Katana stuff as it won't make the changes to IP.BIN necessary for Katana binaries to run via MIL-CD. I think it's homebrew only. Though your sig is not showing up since the forum change.
He could use Rocky5's rebuild GDI to recreate a GDI, avoiding any anti mil-cd copy protection: http://sheep.host22.com/RebuildGDI.rar I personally see signatures. It might be an option to enable? Or you're on mobile, the theme is good at hiding unessential stuff on mobile.
