was this on the disc originally or did you put it on there?

Actually, there's a Sega Saturn game that has the Wolf Team logo jingle that they used for their Meag Cd games. Quite odd to find that.

Nice find, perhaps there are more unrelated files hidden on the disc :p

Interesting. That's the Japanese opening for Sonic CD.

Also, what do you mean by padding in this context?

Probably just put there for fun by the developers.

In either Star Trek Elite Force or Giants Citizen Kabuto for the PS2 there is a 400mb padding file that consists entirely of FUCKFUCKFUCK. Another had something like "You shouldn't be seeing this!".

Lol, so it is unneeded files just put there for no reason? Or is it like a dumy file to increase loading times and to cut down on gdr reader noise?

Maybe it's accessible within the game somehow, like an easter egg.

Surely a single music file wouldn't be enough padding to shift the data closer to the outer edge of the disc to any significant degree? Even if it was uncompressed.

I believe a simple audio track would not have worked with their copy protection.

The way the devkit gd-rom authoring tools are made, the defaults is pre-made to create a gd-rom with 5 tracks. Most devs used a dummy audio tracks because their game fitted in the 5th track anyway. A lot of games, especially beta ones have unused tracks in the HD area.
