Further to Sonic Unleashed, a multiplatform attempt at a proper Sonic game lately, I was pleasantly surprised by the fact that another, Wii exclusive, Sonic game will be arriving in the near future. I ll start with what I don't like. The fact that it is part of the "storybook" series, like Secret Ring before it, and that Sonic's holding a sword - you'd think hedgehogs would rely on their own spines. Anyway, what I do like is the apparent new direction with regard to the game's engine. At points it looks to be a far departure from what we're used to, level-wise, ever since Sonic Adventure 1, i.e. go from point A to point B in a linear fashion. This make it unlike Secret Rings in gameplay naturally, allowing for full 3D gameplay more in line of Mario 64 (I hope). When I saw these screenshots I got flashbacks of Sonic CD's intro, really spooky for a moment.
maybe he had the US version which in that case it would be shitty music  The japanese and the world outside the US got the smae cool tunes. Yakumo
Oh great, a new low point for sonic. At some point someone whould have said "Lets give him a sword" and someone else said "That sounds great" btw, I like the Sonic CD music. Shame on me.
I'm pretty sure if you played either Sonic CD soundtrack to a normal person, you'd get some wierd looks. That said I don't mind the US one, both of them have some dumbass tunes here and there.
I noticed the Sonic games change music a lot. I saw a movie where some kids were playing Sonic 2 in England and the first stage's music was that of the second or third stage of the US version...still good tunes, but WHY change? I never understood mixing the tunes up.
It was most probably the movie that did that. Sonic CD was the only game to before the adventure series to feature altered music.
Hmm, that makes me feel a bit better I guess? Still wondering why they'd change it for the movie then. Oh well, nothing to lose sleep over haha.
So do I. I even own the Sonic CD soundtrack, AND composer Spencer Nilsen's solo album "Architects of Change".
The US version of the Sonic CD soundtrack is the one I prefer, actually. Maybe it's because I grew up with it, but I just prefer the music more. And I almost always prefer the original Japanese.
Same. Except maybe the theme song and goofy vocals...lol. I love the acoustic theme on the time trial select screen.
Did nobody actually try Shadow the Hedgehog? Everybody saw the cover and dismissed the 'Hedgehog with a Gun' concept, and I don't think anybody actually saw that Shadow could pick up any weapon dropped by a defeated enemy. Swords, polearms, several different projectile weapons. It was just another attack method on top of the spin dash, and I see Black Knight as a logical extension of that mechanism. Most likely, you'll need to watch context-sensitive clues to figure out which attack to use at the appropriate time.
Probably, but damn to me the Japan/Euro soundtrack is just so much better in every respect...but hey, that's just me.
