Hey Everyone, I have started to play Sonic CD on my Sega CD 2 and I'm not sure if there is something wrong with my hardware or not. If I let the entire track play out during a boss battle, it will not restart and when I do finish the boss the next level will not load. But, if I restart the console and continue it will take me to the next level even though it didn't load. The music during the normal stages work fine, I have not tried the special stages yet. I tried this with my Mega-CD Japanese version and the music does repeat itself during the boss battle and I can continue. Not sure what is going on....
Couldn't recreate the issue on mine. Genesis2+CDmodel2+32x sat at the first boss for a solid 6 minutes and fairly certain the music restarted twice with no problems loading to the next level. Something similar happened to me years ago with a badly damaged copy of Lunar Eternal Blue where I had to finish a certain area in the blue spire before the track ended or else it would not load to the next area. My guess is the laser in the Japanese model is in better shape than you US one?
Hi Stevo, Thanks for trying in on your system. I wasn't very clear, it is my Japanese copy of Sonic CD that works flawlessly, I don't have a Japanese Mega CD Unit. I also created a copy through imgburn and it still has the same problem. I have come across some issues in regards to the KSS-240A laser http://assemblergames.com/l/threads/sega-cd-model-2-fails-when-warm.48655/ post 3. At least I can play the Japanese version I suppose
