So, I've had this thought in my head for a while: How do I get into the past/pcm music, and is there a program to do it, and how to change the music? I have been looking all over the internet, and I can't seem to find one, but I might not be looking hard enough. I know exactly where they are, (the music bank files, because they're not Redbook Audio) and whether you guys know of a program that could help me change them/listen to them. Gameboi64 Edit: the pcm music banks are all in the zip file.
It's synthesized using the Ricoh RF5c68 chip on the CD unit. The files you uploaded are actually a mix of music data and 68000 code. It doesn't work the way you're thinking. It's more like MIDI but in a proprietary, custom format which would need to be completely reverse engineered. You would be better asking this at sonic retro.
Oh. Ok then. Thanks for all of the information you've provided me, but when I saw this same sort of question on sonic retro, the guy that asked the question didn't get an answer as to how to do it.
At Sonic Retro you will find a lot of Sonic hacking related information. Also general information about the Mega Drive and it's games.
Ohhhh. I've been looking at Mega CD dev manuals, I think I have a PCM manual here somewhere, and I'll look at the hacking utilities. I don't think there are any there to fit my needs, but I'll look again.
