We all know the history of this game, and Drx was extremely kind in releasing that huge number of protos - it has lead to more confirmations that Sonic Crackers was an early proof of concept for Knuckles' Chaotix (http://info.sonicretro.org/Knuckles%27_Chaotix_(prototype_1207). Proto 1207 is the earliest available version, but do earlier versions exist out there in the wild? Proto 1207 has some left overs from Sonic Crackers that were removed over time in the later protos. It seems like it is so close to having Tails or Sonic still in the game. If only such a version existed.

It's a shame, but the build was thrown out. I found out a few days ago. Gonna write an article about it later, it's really interesting (the build, not the throwing out). I'll keep digging though
