Watched the first few minutes...liked the cameo of James Rolfe (Angry videogame nerd), i'll watch the whole thing later.
I watched the whole thing i still think that eddie should had asked the comunity for help with the animations and CG because they are really bad and they could had been much better.
No mention of Jaleel White, the guy who voiced Sonic in two of the cartoons, also doing the voice of Sonic in this fanfilm? C'mon guys, that's the coolest thing about this! REALLY not a fan of how over-detailed Sonic's quills are.
EDIT: Angry rant deleted. Key points again: It's been in development for three or so years and yet nobody thought to hand the script over to an outsider and say "hey does this all sound completely ridiculous and badly worded to you?" they had a script which almost sounded like it was written to intentionally give that fan film amateur effect. I was cringing the whole way through. Some noticeable examples: Sonic talking about putting things back to another way suffered some serious tense issues/The badnik giving that dude some choices was just a clusterfuck of grammatical errors/Robotnik talking about humanity. Majorly inconsistent use of CGI techniques - why didn't they get the people who made the badniks to make everything else? That CGI Green-hill zone bit at the end was fucking horrendous, way to kill the suspension of disbelief. Why did that rocket suddenly go back towards the egg carrier? Dirty the G.U.N uniforms up a bit, considering there's meant to be a war on those soldiers don't look overly taxed. Robotnik's uniform looks like a set of pyjamas had I been that guy in the electric chair I'd have been laughing my ass off. I shouldn't poke fun as I couldn't have done this myself but it just seems to be another one of those cases where a team has refused to take outside constructive criticism and soldiered on thinking they're the shit, meanwhile they've released overly ambiguous trailers and hyped the fuck out of it only to become a laughing stock upon release. I never had high hopes for this from the start. It looked awful when first announced then it seemed to get much better and then we got this.
Is this actually meant to be taken seriously with the real world setting and the pompous action movie score? Bet the people who made this also liked the retarded Sonic Adventure plots...
Some of them were pretty bad, but the Egg Carrier looked better than it has in most of the newer Sonic games. Yeah, the Sonic design was a bit...awkward. I accepted this movie as soon as they called him Robotnik, even if it wasn't a perfect translation of the story. Also the cameos were great, not only did they get the AVGN, but Doug Walker (the Nostalgia Critic) and Stuttering Craig from ScrewAttack were in there too, I thought it was cool.
My biggest problem with it was the lack of speed on Sonic's part. The parts where hes racing past the forest or hitting the robots he seemed to move fast but not in the super fast blast processing way we expect Sonic to move. The only time they got the speed right was when he was in Green Hill Zone towards the end. I'm shocked this took 3 years to make! It is really hit and miss. I love how terrible the nostalgia critic is as the guard with his hands up. Hes just dreadful. You'd think as a film critic he'd aleast try. As for the CG Sonic I liked it but you can tell the limitations they had with their software modeling by his spikes and how plastic they looked. I agree this team should have gotten outside help on the writing and animation. The character models were the best part. Some real potential here that fell short.
