This game was released in Japan last month and has just had a PAL European release. Why is it not out in America yet? I heard it was going to be Sonic Mega Collection 2 but I went onto the Sega website and it was not even mentioned!

Is this game getting a Noprth American release or what?

    :(

I got the game sitting across the room from me, it was released on the GC as the Gems collection. It also happens to be a huge waste of money.

No, Sonic Gems is for NGC only in the states.

If you want it on PS2 you have to buy the JPN or EU releases.

No, Sonic Gems is a GameCube Exclusive, Sonic Mega Collection was ported from GameCube to PlayStation 2 and Xbox (under the name of Sonic Mega Collection +).

Yep, thats what I meant, sorry if it wasn't clear. But it is only an exclusive in the states, I know i have seen oal copies of gems collection on the PS2.

I also second the fact that its a waste of money. Sonic CD has the wrong music, R and fighters are just plain crap.

belive it or not if you got a cube, get teh japanese version, the 4 extra games and japanese sonic cd are worth it, but if all you got is a ps2, then by all means get that one.

What 4 extra games? Are they not included in the US version?

    Vectorman, I think.

Is the sound and music correct for the Streets of Rage/Vectorman games?
If I recall, the Dreamcast Smashpack had SOR2 and Vectorman, albeit with horrible sound emulation (the games sounded like the audio was being generated by a Sega Master System)...

Ok - well, I want to get it as it's only cheap and I want to play Sonic CD again. Do I go for NTSC J version or PAL version?

Is there enough language in the game to put me off the JPN version, or does the 60hz NTSC screen refresh rate outweigh this? I prefer NTSC games you see.

go for the NTSC/J version. Better games, better music. It's sonic, so there shouldn't be too much of a language barrier

I don't know of hardly any games that originate from Japan, then go straight to Europe and totally skip the US out.

Does anyone know why the game is not getting a US release?

NTSC J version it is........! :)

As was already stated, the game is only out on the NGC in the States. Been out for weeks already. Since it's an exclusive to the Cube, that kinda prevents the release of the PS2 version.

all due to poor sales, sonic games usually sell best on cube here, thats why.

Yeah but if it's a cube exclusive why do we (EUROPE) have both versions (cube and now PS2). Do they not think the game would sell on PS2 in the States then? I know of a few people that have bought it just so they can play Sonic CD again. This game was a pretty big hit I thought..??
