Exactly. Many great efforts so far (way beyond anything I could do..hell I don't even know what software to use for a start!) but Barcode's 1st two offerings are just sublime!

Took a while, but I'm pretty happy with the result, especially its theme that seems to fit very nicely with the actual disc contents.

Looks like a race between Nitro and Barc0de.

I say use a resized version of the original SOA one or the one made by Nitro, since both look very professional.

BTW, why dont we use a custom ESRB badge? Like the "D for DUMB" [IMG] or just the RP one since it isnt rated at all.

The KA one could give it a more oldschool feel since its no longer used (but it was at the time).

EDIT: nitro could you make the lateral saturn bar with the classic white&grey ribbon?

Its a pretty safe bet that the ESRB would have tacked on a KA rating if the game saw the light of day at the time. I could change the "ESRB" text to read "A0bC" for "ASSEMbler 0th bit Community" or some other 3-4 letter acronym. Wouldn't be hard at all.

I think I saw a final cover version with the KA instead of the RP badge, but maybe it was a fake...

Anyways, we could add the ASSEMblergames.com logo next to the SEGA one, and maybe the STI one too.

BTW: about the art you used, I liked the classified-like white label since it goes well with the whole idea behind this, but the BG art looks like something that belongs to a different generation of both game, console and drawing style (which is kinda true).

If its all about a more agressive sonic, honestly the anime designs from SonicCD looked more badass if you ask me, specially this unused SOA cover:

Dunno its just an opinion, plus it doesnt looks so different from the style sonic used at the time, while the SA style was a complete overhaul and a big change from previous desings.

The artwork in the background is some altered concept art for the upcoming DS game, Sonic Rush Adventure. I looked for appropriate artwork from the timeframe and I couldn't locate anything that would suit the "xtreme" idea. So I went with some newer artwork and did a cool cropping job to eliminate the bulk of the changes that Sonic has seen over the past few years. He still looks new (as this game is seeing light in 2007), yet is dark and mysterious, reflecting the game's history thus far.

I don't feel like making a box art, in fact I think we should use that thumbnail box Naonak posted because that was legit and its styled more after Xtreme.

Oh, I forgot what I was saying, anyway... I don't feel like making a box art but I did make this shitty logo based on the Sonic X logo you guys could use. The style doesn't fit at all with the game but whatever.

And if you want the vector grab that here.

I'd recommend the vector if you guys are using Photoshop. While you're in whatever document you're playing with go to File > Place and find shitlogo.ai and hit enter. You can then place it where ever and since it's a vector you can resize it perfectly without making it look bad.

The only thing I have time for at the moment is to come up with a really quick "Sonic Xtreme cover competition" logo using Paint! Yep, I deleted all my other stuff of the PC and would love some suggestions for a GOOD photo/image manipulation suite other than Photoshop. Anyway, here is my effort:

Bollocks in comparison to some (such as the one directly below) primarily because I ain't got nowt to do it on :-( More inspired by the old Archie comics and original designs tbh. I love the darker images coming up on here.

Edit: I love the fact that Sonic looks like he is about to do an internal search of passengers just getting off an Amsterdam flight!

Yeah I know that, anyway, what about changing the eyes (iris and pupil) to full black? cuz is the green iris what gives away it SA-esque origin.

Or we could do a mid-90s style rendered sonic to keep up with the original idea.

Indeed, anyway, nitro if you want leave the design as it is, it was just a suggestion, but try to fix the lateral bar k?

BTW, what you guys think about the ASSEMbler and STI logos? should we put those or not? and what about the legal consequences of using a SEGA logo?

I dont think they'll care if we use the SS one (cuz the brand is no more) but SEGA is still active so they could theoretically sue us for that.

    beautiful.

the only thing I may suggest would be an esrb rating, though I like it the way it is right now. Nice and clean. Those old ESRB ratings are ugly as hell in my opinion.

A bit tongue in cheek, but it took ages in Paint...
