http://share.blog.us.playstation.com/ideas/2010/03/17/team-ico-collection/ Everyone should sign in and vote for this, it needs to happen. I hate GoW so never bothered with it's collection, but ICO/SoTC in (pseudo) HD one one Blu-Ray would be awesome.
Give me GT3/GTConcept/GT4 collection too! I doubt PD has the time to do it now. Just focus on GT5 KAZ!
That would be really cool, as SoTC always had framerate problems. Although, seeing as it's the PS3, the port might as well... Also, what do you mean by "pseudo" HD?
I don't see the point really, the games may not be in HD but they look nice on a PS2 that's hooked up via component. Developers should design new software and busy themselves with new ideas instead of remaking half of the good games of the prior generation in HD... or just porting it without any changes but some sort of new retard controls like they use to do on the Wii. That said I would fancy such a collection, but not if it slows down the making of any other new game, esp. The Last Guardian.
Unless they had extra manpower or hired people to do the job, in which case I'm all for it. But then again, I don't really see them having a great chance of making GOLD overall. In the case of these two titles, it was a tighter-knit group that dropped the epic titles (but then I realize I don't know who exactly would be doing the grunt work of porting/improving the previous work). up-scaled, etc? Whatever they did for GoW I/II to make it look 'better'. Render in higher res/more polygons, and maybe higher-res textures to boot?
If it's actually rendered in a higher resolution then that's not pseudo-HD, that's just HD. If it were just upscaled (i.e. just enlarged to fill up all the pixels, like some DVD players do) then that I might call "pseudo-HD". I'm not picking on you or anything, I'm just trying to clarify. I would certainly hope that if these games were to be remade then they would actually be rendered in HD, but I don't know and that poll doesn't specify.
Yeah I meant like they did with GoW, it's technically HD but they still used a lot of the source material which wasn't designed for it. Doesn't bother me if it's remade, upscaled or in a tiny window. While it looks good via component, I want them on one disc and don't want to have to keep a PS2 plugged in just for 2 games.
If only I could play me PS2 games on my PS3 I wouldn't have voted for this. It feels weird buying the same thing twice over but I guess it's the only choice=/
They should just offer a software emulator for like £20, I would buy it. I repaired someone's 60GB backwards compatible PS3 and tried it with FFX and it looked awesome.
some month ago there were great voices around of sony re-starting BC via software... so it was all vapor?
I remember (I think) subbie mentioning there were hooks for this in the latest firmwares so it looked like they were still working on it, but who knows. They could have a pure software emulator working 100% just sat on their server, and they are just negotiating selling old PS2 games via download. As nice as it would be for us to have a downloadable emulator for free/cheap, Sony are a business and are going to go for whatever makes them the most money.
It is just an average joe thing, but if enough people sign up and vote it could just well happen. If they know there's enough interest in something and they can make money from it, chances are they will.
I disagree with people saying Sony should focus on new games. A good game is a good game. Port this stuff, noooow.
I would looooove a Team ICO collection. I missed out on ICO and Shadow of the Colossus the first time around and would love to play the HD versions of both on my PS3.
