As some may know, a number of manufacturers licensed CD-i and used it in media players when the format was being pushed as a multi-media platform. However, I did not know Sony also released a device until browsing online. This device they called "Intelligent Discman": Exert: Credits: 1. http://cdii.blogspot.com/2007/04/pictures-of-sony-portable-cd-i-ivo-v11.html 2. http://cdii.blogspot.com/2007/04/sony-s-first-foray-into-cd-based-gaming.html
Don't forget about data discman as well. http://www.homecomputermuseum.de/herst/bilder/datadiscman_gr.jpg
I had one of these Sony CD-i units. Pro is that the controller is built-in on the lid of the CD drive. Con is that they weren't expandable, so there was no MPEG decoder card available. Also, between the bright screen and the noisy motor the effective battery life was less than an hour. I foolishly sold the thing years ago, and I wish I'd hung on to it.
