I missed out on the start-up card on ebay. Anyone have details of what this does exactly? I have come into ownership of a DTL-H30101 but it won't work as intended without the card. It has markings on it I have not seen before "playstation 2 (266) development" I am sure a few of you know more.
We had a discussion about these here: http://www.assemblergames.com/forum...nformation-wanted-SCPH-10020-TDB-startup-card another one is here: http://www.assemblergames.com/forum...5-PlayStation-2-Programmer-Tool-LT-dtl-h30105 Read up on the "PlayStation 2 Tool LT" these cards are used with certain debugs (the DTL-Hx010x units and the DTL-H50001) as a reduced functionality tool. I found the auction you were talking about, that is the first one I have seem for sale on ebay. BTW ask l_oliveira and unclejun they were messing around with these before. I also have working one and can send you a dump of it.
I had been hoping there was some progress since then. I don't think a dump will work right? It uses a different magic gate key?
I didn't get the dump running either, All I know is these things boot correctly on DTL-H30101 and DTL-H50001, are ignored on SCPH-3000x and later retails and make the SCPH-10000 spaz out. You even need a PS2 tool to configure one as the card's software has no configuration options. These cards don't turn up very often, mine was pure luck, the video game store I got it at had it sitting on the counter when I saw the serial number, I took a gamble on it, (it cost $10) I had just found a compatible debug at a thrift store 30 miles away a few days earlier.
You should be able to dump it and decrypt using the machine that can boot from it. Tools to decrypt KELF files on the PS2 itself do exist. You can PM me if you're interested on preserving the contents of your card. It won't work anywhere else because the retail consoles mechacon (same go with DEV kits that have magic gate for KELF/KIRX disabled) lack the cryptographic keys to unlock it. (Purposely different than that of the retail keys to prevent people from using these on retail units and to prevent retail cards with retail bootable files such as the DVD player from working on a DEV kit)...
I know, the real mystery is why the SCPH-10000 tries to boot it. Then again, typical Sony, their launch units usually do run a barely-qualifies-as-beta bios.
I was outbid in all 3 (or 4?) cards that recently sold via eBay... I really wanted one!!! Guess I'll have to keep a close look and get my wallet ready.
I'll stay alert to new threads in the marketplace then Feel free to PM me; I'm mostly interested in small hardware/accessories as well as development software.
