Ah Sumo, no wonder it looks like Outrun 2 with Minis

Heavy Rain looks impressive, hopefully be the start of what the PS3 can do.

I think the hype got me. One of my friends lend me his PSP and i actually like it now. His PSP is a japanese metallic blue model.

I'm starting to think about getting the new model, when it's released.. I'm tired of waiting for decent prices for the PS3 down here.

Another PSP, just when I bought a new SLIM model, thanks a lot sony!

On the other hand I might be winning with this: I heard the latest firmware cant be downgraded nor moded, and theres rumors about a new board thats modified so modchips cant be installed.

Guess that will be the downfall of the PSP scene...

Anyway, still looking foward to LBP of couse, but that game Heavy Rain, well, its reminds me a lot of indigo prophecy, but it feels more like Shenmue control-wise. Not saying that is a bad game, just that beyond the graphics I dont see much else.

And Johnny, I wouldnt hold my breath if I where there. I went to the brazilian VW site the other day and they're still selling the old VW transporter (the beetle van) for $27139 dollars!:eek:h::noooo:

That car has more than 50 years! and if thats any sign, the PS3 wont be affordable down there for quite a while...

I don't know if anyone told you that cars in brazil are expensive. I have a 10 year old Citroen Xsara VTS, that if i wanted to sell it today, i would probably get between 21.000 Reais to 25.000 Reais.

As a comparison, the Citroen C4 VTR, the model that replaced mine, costs 63.500 Reais.

Those VW vans (a.k.a. Kombi) are still being produced, because in the last 10 years, we were flooded with Korean transport vans. And the Kombi has low cost maintenance, great reliability and low consumption. For small business it's a winner.

The price is high, because the production isn't that big. The design is very old yes (from the 76 model), but engine and transmission are from the VW Fox. It's flexfuel (runs both on petrol or ethanol) and has disc brakes.

Anyway, with the new car regulations next year, it won't be produced anymore. So don't worry.

Plus i wouldn't be worry about PS3 low prices down here. It'll be lower soon. Most people are getting Wiis or the X360.

The price still sounds crazy, I would expect a little more for that amount.

After all, whats the minimum wage over there?

Really? what kind of regulations? like price? or safety and stuff?

The cheapest car in Brazil, is a chinese car from Chang´an, sold here by a company called EFFA. The price? 22.900 Reais. http://www.fastdriver.com.br/site/noticia/not2305_14.asp

Car prices has nothing to do with the minimum wage. Like games, the problem are the high taxes.

As for the new regulations, safety items (like ABS, chassis with progress deformation,...) and crash tests (that equals safety too).

Most cars sold in Brazil are the latest technology, but these new regulations are to make sure everybody respect them.

    Anyway, i think we're getting off-topic.

Well, i'll have to explain again...

Renault, Peugeot, Citröen, BMW, Mercedes-Benz, Audi, VW, Ford, Chevrolet, Fiat, Honda, Mitsubishi, Suzuki, Hyundai, Ssangyong / Chana, Effa (Chang'em), Alfa Romeo, Dodge, Chrysler, Jeep, Porsche, Ferrari / Maserati, Mini, Volvo, Toyota, Subaru, Nissan, Land Rover, Lexus, Kia, Lobini, Chamonix, Jaguar and Troller.

Independent importers also sell others like Infiniti, Mazda, Pagani, Bugatti, Lamborghini, Bentley, Aston Martin, Cadillac, Lotus, ...

Assembling cars here (and exporting): Ford, Fiat, VW, General Motors, Renault, PSA Peugeot Citröen, Toyota, Honda, Nissan, Mercedes-Benz, Lobini, Chamonix, Mitsubishi and Hyundai.

Half of the market is of Flex Fuel cars (Petrol or Ethanol), not to mention those that make conversions and add the hability to run on Natural Gas. So we don't have to go crazy if petrol prices go skyhigh.

If that isn't the latest technology, maybe i'm dumb.

Can we go back on topic now?

Look I dont want to start a fight, less a nationalistic one, but I been to south america and those brands arent the norm.

Like 80% of cars there are inside-assembled variants with a lot of the equipment taken out. Even then the price is higher than first world versions with higher specs.

Imported cars with "the latest tech" sell for twice or more than in the main markets, so most of the population is out of the equation.

NGV cars are common in Chile and I think in Argentina too, and ethanol engines are way easier than hybrids or even most modern common-rail diesels. On the other hand sugarcane ethanol can only work for so long, since while better than corn it is not as efficient as switchgrass and cellulose ethanols are.

So you guys may not be going crazy now, but who knows in the future...

About the topic, the GC is over and unless sony has something in store for pax I'll say theres next to nothing regarding the subject.

I'm not starting a fight either. But you keep coming getting off-topic.

Honda, Toyota, Peugeot, Citroen and Renault sell latest tech cars here and are the "norm". Honda is planning a new plant so it doesn't hurt sales of the New Civic and make the new Honda City. The car is selling so much, that if you decide to buy one now, you'll have to wait 3 months for it to be delivered. Same for Corolla. Renault makes the Mégane here. Not to mention companies like Hyundai and KIA that are selling cars with 5 year warranty. Of course cheaper cars sell more, but every single company is making tons of money here, selling cars.

Flexfuel engines are more than 70% of the market share. Most sold cars last month? On the top 20, Toyota Corolla, Fiat Punto, Honda New Civic, Hyundai Tucson, Honda Fit,...

Brazil is the tenth best market in the world for Ferrari. thirteenth for Porsche. BMW, Mercedes-Benz, Jaguar, Land Rover never sold so many cars down here like in the last 2 years.

Brazilian ethanol is E100. I converted my car to ethanol and not only it made it more efficient, but more powerful as well because of the bigger compression rate. Don't forger Bio-fuels and Hydrogen technology in developments right now down here.

Brazil has been developing the ethanol technology in vehicles for more than 30 years. Not to mention the discovery of one of the biggest petrol reserves in the world. Believe me, we are going to be ok for more than a few decades.

Then i'm locking this thread, since not only the subject has been discussed, but also we went off-topic.
