Sony HB-F1XD - MSX2 - What To Do?

Whats up guys... i got this today from a friend for free... I dont know much about this system at all to be honest... Basically if this was yours what would you do to get it working 100%

All i know is what you see.... I have no games to test cart slots... and its missing the floppy drive entirely..... please give me suggestions and links to buy the parts needed and information that would help me on my learning journey... thanks in advance

I dont even know how to operate this fossil... I do have computer and console repair skills though...

 

Get a floppy drive first off. I can't really tell from the pictures, but you might be able to harvest one from an old PC. Metal Gear and Snatcher are the top recommended games for the MSX, so start there. Plenty of shooters too. Do you read any Japanese? If not, learn if you want to really mess around with this. Until you have any game carts or a working floppy drive, you have a BASIC prompt to play with.

 

the floppy connector is a 34 pin cable and a power cable that looks standard... but i dont know if i can just pop in any floppy drive... do you need to modify it?

whats the floppy for anyway?
