    Hello everyone

I'm new here, and I would like to help me with a problem I have with a Sony PSX DESR-7000 console. The problem is that not reading me PS2 games type DVD but if PS1 type CD, have replaced the lens KHS 400C but still doing the same, checking the operation with the disassembled console I've noticed that when you access the game this lens does not work but starts the recording, I read around here that would have to read the khs 400 c is for PS2 games but instead this does not work there any way to change soft type (configuration) to read this lens and I have to replace the other lens?, in principle've been looking lens recording internet but it is very hard to find, well I thank you can help me,

    Thanks and regards

If you cannot replace the writer laser, then you could use FMCB to boot your discs because FMCB will always set the CD/DVD drive to PS2 mode.

No, it is not an option. It is just something that FMCB for the PSX will always do.

Hello it is not that can happen, because I when I put a game ps2 or DVD starts moving lens KWS left (recording) and does not give me option to work the other lens KHS 400c stays all while this way, I failed to see the other lens never work.
    Greetings.

Did you use FMCB? Specifically, you must boot the disc with FMCB's fastboot function.

With bad writer laser you *cannot* start games from XMB. What SP193 suggested is that you use a FREE MC BOOT memory card to boot the PSX and run the game using FREE MC BOOT fastboot function.

FREE MC BOOT puts the PSX optical drive in PS2 mode, which makes it not use the write laser. So your games will read.

Hello, to make FCMB needed? I have a play staion 2 SCPH-9004 slim and 8MB memory card original with this you can only be done? I read that in this model of play station can not be done FCMB, as I can install in the soft memory card? and where I can get programs ?, another option is to change the lens KWS 200a but can not find.

Look at the auctions, KWS-200A is used not only in the Sony - DESR, but also in other devices. Try the search ebay, I bought this laser is there (a few years ago).

Some quick googling says the Sony GX300 DVD recorder uses the same unit. Can be had on ebay for like £35. May not be too terrible to buy one and gut it for the laser.

thank you for answering all and for the link, I'll try to install FCMB on the memory card and test the PSX, when I commented there as it has gone.

    regards

That drive is a viable source for the Sanyo laser pickup used on DESR-5500/5700/7500/7700.

Anyone have any idea why when trying to create a FMCB memory card for a DESR 7000 on a normal PS2 selecting the PSX option, all I get is installation failed straight away?

    Hello

I thought that not all models DESR carry the same recording lens installed.

    Hello

I'm trying to do FCMB on the memory card to pass it to the PSX but my play station 2 has no modchip, do FCMB somehow with the original console?.

KWS200a will be found on DESR-5000/5100/7000/7100. All units with XPD-001 motherboard.

Apparently some Japanese website mentions these SONY drives as potential source of parts (KWS200a)

    http://sony.storagesupport.com/product/104 (DRU510A)
DW-U15A (the same drive but with different firmware, used internally on some tabletop SONY DVR units)
