Hi, not entirely sure which thread really fits this the best so thought I'd post here. Does anyone have an original or pdf file of the Japanese SCPH-1000 PSX manual please? Just bought one and the only thing that's missing is the paperwork. Can you believe we used to pay £230.00 ($460.00 USD) for a PSX! It has it's original price tag on the box.
Tried to find it at http://www.gamemanuals.net/ and http://www.replacementdocs.com/, but wasn't lucky. I know you can find it somewhere. I'll keep my eyes open.
LOL - Yeah £16.99 now, £230 back in the day Unclejun, have no fear! Thanks for having a look on line for me Johnny I appreciate it. I have also been told that the hardware is slightly different, can anyone familiar with this particular model tell me anything about it's architecture that might be different from subsequent models? Thanks
The SCPH-1000 has composite cable inputs in back as well as the regular Sony AV cable input. Every model after that only had the Sony AV cable input. You can see pics of the rear of the machine here: http://www.japan-games.com/database/images/Sony/Ps1/SCPH-1000/ Laters!
Wow! Now that is one neat and tidy SCPH-1000! I am afraid mine is a little yellowed, which I am wondering whether would leech out if I used a gentle bleaching agent such as "Miltons" or a low dosage of washing up powder in a bucket? Any thoughts about the rigid nature of the plastic? Would it stand up to this kind of cleaning? The outputs are impressive on the launch edition. Although S-video isn't my favourite option, it does mean I can plug it into the back of my AV amp and run it to my Sony projector. I can do that with the straight Yellow cable, but it would be a pain as all the other consoles use different outputs. I know it is supposed to be region free (or so I was informed), but I was also told that the CD play-back is better than any of the other PS1 units, so did Sony originally use a better DAC? Japan-Games (don't suppose you have a copy of the original manual do you?) Just a thought! Can you also recommend any unusual Japanese games titles - I have never owned that many Japanese titles for my PS equipment, but LOVED the Dreamcast stuff I used to own (sadly sold now) :-(
Just has a look at your collection / website J-G.com I like it very much, very professional - well done! I've seen your name in eBay a few times, but we've never traded thus far. That's the first 10million edition PS1 I have seen photographed properly. I initially thought they looked similar to a Net Yaroze, but it doesn't look fuzzy and is a dark blue finished rather than black. When I bought my Net Yaroze I was just told it was a black PS1 by the owner (I knew it was more likely to be NY but I HOPED it was a 10million edition lol)

Can someone translate this?) PS1 Model list: http://everything2.com/index.pl?node_id=1106816
I should have read more carefully, I just noticed the "used to"... Here's another scph models list, it doesn't have all the regional variations but it have a lot of (maybe all) the accessories: http://maru-chang.com/hard/scph/index.php/all/english/
All of the online searches I have done still fail to bring up an instruction manual for it - hampered by the poor translation of any Japanese sites that come up. The direct translation is rubbish! Total gibberish actually lol. I speak fluent French and sometimes tested the Babel Fish site, which is usually quite good, but frankly not good enough and although I make mistakes, I have yet to fall foul of the glaring errors Babel Fish presents. It might appear from somewhere - hopefully!
I use another translator for japanese to english: http://tool.nifty.com/globalgate/ It may not be better though... Good luck for your search, you should ask someone to scan it for you, it might be easier!
You're probably right :-( I have enrolled with the excellent playstation museum site as a member and posted a request (along with STILL the search for the NY card!) I have managed to do a deal with a German dev kit fan for a pile of original Net Yaroze software and the serial cable - but no NY card sadly.
