http://www.xbox-scene.com/xbox1data/sep/EEpVyFEuZkGYARdgaJ.php So why didn't this come up back when the N64 rumble pack was released? And the original DualShock for PS1? Hmmm.
mmm so that means ninty can ask money for consoles with 4 controlers? and with d pad? :smt043 and dual screens and touch screen on consoles and portable consoles with cartriges? etc?
well, the first 4 controller machine was an atari. with the execption of the dreamcast, there's no other machine i can imagine of with a D-pad AND a nintendo sign on it. and finally, touch screen wasn't invented by nintendo nor cartriges. sorry mate. ;-) anyway, that's really stupid but not treally surprizing. every way of making money legally is exploited these days.
It's not Ninty who sued them, it's a company named Immersion that has certain patents on force feedback technology. With the rumble pack, and I'm guessing subesequent GC controller, Ninty uses a proprietary form of feedback.
Also, Eva01, ninty did not come up with cartridge based portables either. There was at least one such console in the eighties. Many more, depending on your definition of the term "portable". This lawsuit or whatever, though... is it not some sort of maliciously planned "legal" speculation? Boy, I hate trigger-happy lawyers, and greedy people.
I wonder if this on top of the $82 million that Immersion won in its lawsuit. I don't think this is a case of greedy lawyers. Sony has sold countless dual shock controllers for what? $20.00 to $30.00 bucks a pop. That is a lot of money made off of someone else’s technology.
