Sony waivering on HDD, keeping Controller

Could mean nothing, or could mean Sony is starting to downgrade their system to be more realistic.

well its the way the rumbler technology works, and im guessing the old controller design used this, so theyre probably going to use a differetn rumbler technology.

I thought it wasnt the actuall rumble but it was the way that the rumble interacted with the game?

Man, I though you meant HD; high definanition video output. Maybe we shoud use HDD for Hard Disk Drive from now on.

Shame about the controller - worst 1st party one I have ever seen. Is it a dildo, a banana, a boomerange? No :-(

athough, they had to change it sometime.

if they had no LEGAL or Life or Death reason to change it, the only other reason could be they're on crack.

Heh. PS3 is starting to fall apart even this long before release... It's going to be a lot like X360.

Not a big deal. The PS3 has a expansion bay for the HD. So they can release with or without it. If someone buys one without the HD, they can buy it later on if they want. The Xbox360 will follow the same idea. Actually i think Sony is following Microsoft plan.

Pic of the expansion bay location:

If you saw all those images given to the press, you would notice that in the controller pics there was a message saying:

No the xbox will not follow the same idea at all. The hard drive is a standard part just like the xbox and games will need it to work.

Also yes they controler is subject to change yet someone at sony has said it wont be having any significant changes... So expect that to be more or less the style of the controler.

Yes, they seem to be following Microsoft with the HDD bit. Especially with the idea of taking it with you to a friend's house or what not. However Microsoft's plans at the moment seem to suggest that the HDD is standard, while Sony's seem to be a repeat of their PS2 plans. I think we all know how well that turned out.

Yes, of course they can change it without notice, but if we believe the article, it seems they like the design for the most part and want to run with that.

I didn't turned out well in USA, because SCEA was just too damn stupid. Selling the HDD only with FFXI was a bad move. I know lots of people that just want the HDD for the other games being supported and to use it's promissed features that in the end weren't avaiable. These people, including myself, got a modchip with AUTO ATAD patching feature, just to use any normal HDD as the official one.

In Japan, the HDD was very well supported, and the BBNAV was constantly updated.

So, when you say Sony, i think we all should say SCEA.

well it had to do with the fact that scea did not want to release it unless a game fully supported it,however they decided to cut out most of hd support from games that supported in japan that were released here due to piracy reasons, even though it ended up happening anyway. If anything sony just released to keep the final fantasy collection complete, other then that they gave it literaly no support here, plus most people shyed away from buying it since it required that you buy it in a bundle with final fantasy 11. When it comes to addons sony is pretty poor at supporting them in the U.S., I mean the multitap hardly is used in many games, and the whole promise of this special service where you could donwload game to your hdd never happened, if anyting it was all of sonys ideas in the air, realisticly i have a funny fealing about the statement they made abotu xbox 360 being able to hook up to a ps3 and psp sayign in respones "intresting".

Indeed, and stupid SCEE didn't release it at all.

BTW: if there's going to be a PS3Linux kit I shall go bananas.
