i wanna purchase myself a A910 player, but the software of this little almighty fucker seems to work only on JPN OS. since i have only english or german OS around, does someone know of how to get this problem solved out without using a JPN OS? http://www.anythingbutipod.com/archives/2007/09/sony-a910-series-with-digital-tv-3.php many thanks in adv.
Shouldn't be any reason why Japanese software won't work on English XP or Vista, just make sure you have support for non unicode programs switched to Japanese and everything should work fine.
nono..you got me bit wrong. sony did this on purpose. they want to prevent, that dirty tourists (and reseller) buy their products for using oversea. the SW won't even install on a foreigner OS. this will tell you every shop assistant and the sony hotline as well. so i have to find a way to parallel-install a JPN Win XP on one of my PCs. any advises? or if there is a release of the required sonic-stage SW which works on english OS as well?
There are ways to fool the System to thinking you have a Japanese system, in the mean time read this. http://lloydie.homeip.net/blog/2008/01/19/installing-japanese-sony-sonicstage-on-english-windows But setting the System locale to Japanese, making sure support for non unicode programs is set to Japanese does fool a lot of programs into thinking you have a Japanese system.
wow cool. thanx so far. unfortunately both links shown there are dead:crying: and, is it really that easy by only change the language in the ini file? does this sonicstage 4.3 support all the functionality of the nw-a910? can i also use my own copy i will get with my purchase of the NW, to do that trick? sorry for lot of questioning. i hate sony for their restrictions, but i love them for their uber cool audio products. compared with all other mp3 player manufacturers on the market, sony does by far the best job. so i need that little fu**er so badly:nod:
Do what Jamtex said in the first post. The general way for software to check what language you have installed (at least w/ Win2k & XP) is by checking what your "Language for non-Unicode programs" is set to. Set it to Japanese and try to reinstall it. Failing that, find a Japanese PC game popular in the west, and look for a guide on how to install that.
