I am making this thread to put photos from
variations of the pcbs of a sophia system.
Each version has different hacks as well.

I hope they are clear enough, dont have super equipment...

    Fantastic work Pitsunami!

Interestingly I wasn't even aware of the B, C and D revisions of this Sophia hardware until I ended up with those Rev B SH-2 CPUs
You got more oscillators than me! OSC1 for example and the second 315-5778 solder pads have vanished on the newer D revision.
    What do the 0.7 and 1.0 revisions mean? Are they revisions (0.7, 1.0) inside revisions (A, B, C, D)?

I love your first SH-1 board, that thing looks marvellously different to mine! Look at all those SMDs and the weird bracket thing! :smile-new:
I hope someone is archiving all these images that are surfacing for some sort of massive release with differences?

Druid, my Sophia can do burnt games just not on VA0 retail hardware. Maybe that SH-1 board is wired differently.
I suspect the removed security protection lies on the mainboard or A-Bus board as another layer to keep the Sophia hardware as close to retail as possible.
Which would explain why the SH-1 boards can be used in VA0 Saturns, right?

All these photos and more (Up to 2048 pixels on the longest side) can be found on Google Picasa here.
Anyone can harvest my photos to further the knowledge of Sega hardware revisions! :congratulatory:
