Story Mode- Utterly useless. Quick Battle- Decent replacement for Edge master mode, Better than IV's Tower or that RTS hybrid in III Arcade Mode- Interesting structure if you've played Fighters megamix it's a familiar set up. Graphics are amazing, Music is great, Stages are alot better than the ones in IV ZWEI is my new favorite Ezio is awesome. Creation mode is the only thing that really needs work. I was still able to create myself and the 4 other Retrocade Characters (Dr Levesque, Fred Hebert, Smitty and Cheza) But it really lack variety at this point. Maybe I need to unlock items or something. It would be nice if you could create a character using Ezio's Style but so far you can't. But so Far it's a huge step up from III and IV. It's Basically what III and IV should have been.
As long as Taki is in it, I don't really mind for story mode or anything like that. The game does look great though, special edition looks nice too.
Bad news.... She's not. In her place is Natsu I haven't used her yet so I can't tell you if she's Taki or not.
bought the collectors edition. Preordered it just because gamestop had Ivy bobblehead model kits as a preorder bonus.
Kilik is in Soul Calibur 5  I'm loving the game. While story mode doesn't have much point is is a very well done mode and does add to the overall package. You'll only ever play it once but still, better than nothing. As said, it is a beautiful game but I think the music isn't even close to the original Soul Calibur. Luckily you can download music packs from soul Edge and Soul Calibur. As far as gameplay goes, well it's well balanced with good AI for the most part. Playing against a human is fantastic though. Brings back memories of playing the Dreamcast orginal. Overall it's a very good game with quite a bit of fan service such as the Dreamcast logo in the make character mode. Best of all, the more you play the more you unlock in stages, music, characters, and extra costumes and so on for the character creation mode. Yakumo
I was worried after reading all the reviews that complained about the lack of content, since to me Soul Calibur was the one fighting game that's fun in single player because of all the different modes, but now I have to consider getting it.
Don't listen to reviews, listen to people who know what they are talking about, us, real gamers
That's what I usually do. The only time reviews seem to be right is if they give a game a really low score *cough* Duke Nukem Forever *cough* Although SC V does seem to be pretty half-assed as far as content is concerned, at least compared to the earlier games.
Sadly that's like most current gen sequels.. features get removed. With Taki in the game or not there are plenty of female characters in the game (I just can't play as a male character). I've liked Soul Calibur's fighting style since II, haven't played the first one I get it the old Dreamy . I'll consider getting this, by what others have said it sounds pretty nice.
In this case though it has alot of features Arcade mode has various paths, Then you have the Unlockable Legendary souls mode. Quick battle eat up most of you time as it replaces edge master mode. Online is perfect this time around. The Graphics are the real star of the show this is not just one of the best looking fighting games this gen but one of the best looking games this gen period.
What I don't get is why SCIII is so disliked, I liked that RTS mode, although the story mode was stupid. SCIV I didn't like as much, it was probably because of the dumbass Star Wars crossover.
The RTS mode wasn't as fun as Edge master in the first two games. I think III had the best CAC mode of the 3 most recent ones too. Also I think there's alot of hate for III because it was PS2 exclusive when the Cube version was the best selling version of II
I think V is a solid game in the series. Not as good as II or III, but at least it is better than IV. The only thing I have against it is it's lack of content. Story mode was too short and only focused on 1 character. Quick battle gets old very quickly and Legendary Souls mode just reminds me of the cheap AI that was in SC III. I want Edge Master mode back, or even Chronicles of the Sword for that matter. Say what you want about CotS, at least it was a fun way to let you create a custom character and use them to play through a story mode of sorts. The only problem was the damn data corruption glitch. Yeah, that made no sense to me. The Xbox version of II was the best looking and could run in 720p, the GameCube version had Link and was the best selling, and the PS2 version had fuzzy graphics and the old guy from Tekken. Hooray. So what do they do? They release III as a PS2 exclusive. I assuming Namco had an exclusive contract with Sony, because I can see no other reason to release a sequel exclusively on the system which had the worst version of your previous game. (And before someone comments, no I am not biased against the PS2. I own all three versions of II and can honestly say the PS2 version had nothing going for it.)
I still need the Cube version of II and the PSP game then I'll have the whole series. Story mode aictually focues on 3 characters, Sophitia's 2 kids and ZWEI. ZWEI being my new favorite SC Character EVER. It would have been nice to have a story for everyone though. Also pisses me off that Dampierre was a preorder bonus and nobody has said a word about when he'll be availible to everyone else there's somebody in quick battle that uses his style and it pisses me off.
So you have SC Legends? I was really interested in that before it actually came out and the consensus was that it sucked.
I wouldn't say it focuses on Z.W.E.I, he's kind of like a background character that you occasionally control. The story is mostly about Patroklos and Pyrrha, but for the most part it focuses on the perspective of Patroklos. Unfortunately Dampierre, like Yoda and Vader, is locked on the disc you paid for and you'll probably have to spend $5 later on top of the $60 you spent on the game just to unlock him. This is a trend in gaming that I'm fucking sick of. Oh, and did you fight SCIV Siegfried and Soul Edge Cervantes in quick battle? I beat them both, twice, but it shows on the record as two losses each. Is my game glitching or is it supposed to do that for some reason?
