Today I installed ubuntu 11.04 and I can't get my mic to work but my headphones worked and after a bunch of fiddling I get the mic to work but its really bad quality and now it doesn't work at all and my head phones don't work either, so does any one know how to fix this?
Yesterday I upgraded Ubuntu to 11.04 here at work and I'm having these same issues. I'll let you know if I find a way to solve them.
Hey guys. Please type this as root (su) on a console: lspci -vk Then look for anything that says: AC97 Audio or HDA Intel - I'd bet tho that the CODEC sub-driver is missing from whatever kernel Ubuntu is using for your particular system (laptop isn't it?) e.g. the Sound driver needs to know how to handle the codec part of the sound system (its 2 seperate chips). I've noticed some kernels have mixed support for certain cheap sound codecs (Realtek - AKA Craptek). you'll just probably need to fiddle with alsamixer until it sounds OK.
well, I did mess with alsamixer but my I got a new motherboard because my old one fried so It works now.
