I got a nice Sony HTIB set from a yardsale today for 20$, and it's pretty much new, the guy sold it cus the DVD tray is jammed (big whoop). It has everything but the god damn clip things that I guess only Sony uses. I can't find any except ebay where there like 30$! They look like this: Anyone know where to get them? I can't use them till I find some, currently I only have 2.
cant tell from looking very well but you may be able to make some from old phone connecotrs or RJ-45's? Just cut out that notch and make sure they fit. I assume each connector has 2 holes for the speaker wires?
There a lot smaller then RJ45 or phone jacks. Yeah theres 2 holes. I found some on ebay but there ridiculously priced.
Mate I remember these and the ends were shaped individually and had different coloured plugs (or atleast a dot on it) corresponding to where the speaker is positioned. I.e. the Centre speak could only be plugged into the centre speaker hole. Sony clearly assumed their purchasers could not read. However, that was the only difference, so you can open the unit up, trace the path to - / + and you'll see which was meant to be red of black. Easy to remember as + = red and - = black. Solder new cable ends directly to the PCB and bypass the plug ends by having new inserts coming out through the back of the chassis because as far as I remember the PCB is in the base of that unit and it's not stacked in layers. Open it and have a look. Alternatively, the back plate has the - / + markings. Just use small crocodile clips or push pin connectors soldered directly to new speaker cable pushed onto the pin ends as it should have been a female plug onto male connectors on the back of the Sony, yeah? The second option is easier, but prone to failure as you can damage the connector on the back and / or the actually connection can be crap. 10min jobs!
I dunno if I have the skills to do that....I still can't find any of the damn plugs. No one has any spares or anything? I've found optical cables for cheap on eBay though.
