1989, Falcon was said to be coming out on the Megadrive/Genesis EGM Number 3, (Fabio cover) page 66 most likely, that picture is of the IBM PC version of Falcon or Falcon AT. btw, Vette! was also announced for Genesis, never released. 1992-1993, I read in EGM, or one of those special EGM video game preview guide inserts, that Falcon 3.0 was being made for the SNES. can't find the magazine or special insert, but there was a picture. IIRC, it didn't look anything like the PC version. http://groups.google.com/group/rec.aviation.simulators/msg/fabf53c0ce8cd1d7?dmode=source&hl=en if anyone has any pictures, info, etc, especially of the Falcon game for SNES, I'd most appreciate seeing it.
seems exactly like a game called something like "f-15 strike eagle"... but my memory might fail me...
different game. F-15 Strike Eagle and Falcon were rival simulators by different companies. Falcon series was by Spectrum Holobyte. F-15 Strike Eagle series was by MicroProse. A port of F-15 Strike Eagle II was released on Genesis, after years of delay. I remember seeing a promo video in Toys R US in late 1989 or early 1990 showing upcoming Genesis games. F-15 Strike Eagle II was shown (it was probably the PC version), but wasn't released on Genesis until 1993. Also, the original F-15 Strike Eagle was released on NES and a SNES-exclusive Super Strike Eagle on SNES.
I found the SNES Falcon 3.0 picture from EGM I mentioned in the OP, and it's not much: This is from EGM's 1992 Video Game Preview Guide, as I said, one of their special extras that came with the magazine (don't know which one though).
Someone had a Falcon prototype for SNES for sale on DigitPress last year. But upon discovering that it was an unreleased title, he changed it from a fixed price ($500, if memory serves me right) to taking offers in stead. Not sure if it sold or not, I tried contacting the seller a couple of times recently after not being able to work out a deal with him last year. (I was aiming horribly low) Unfortunately, I've had no replies on my recent re-ignited interest in it.
I actually had this prototype briefly (it was sent to me by mistake). I couldn't get it working to take any screenshots.
wasn there a top gun themed flightsim for the m2 in production at spectrum holobyte ? wondering if it had some roots in the falcon series
