No this isn't some sort of existentialist topic, I'm trying to find examples of where spheres are used as part of a game in some fashion. An example would be the Asterite in Ecco the Dolphin. I'm doing a painting as a X-Mas present for a friend and I need to find a specific example to start this thing with.

Problem is I can't remember what game. The asterite in Ecco is close, I want to say Sonic 3 has something in it and I think theres a side shooter that uses a chain of spheres in a weapon.

Any help is appreciated, even more so if a picture can be provided.

I mean in Sonic 3 he had the spherical shields, one was lightning, one fire, one a bubble IIRC.

Also the balloons perhaps used in the Carnival stages.

silly putty was kind of a sphere, so where the ballz in the game of the same name.

i think this could go on for a long time :p

Well the more ideas thrown out there the sooner I can find what I see in my mind and get a proper example of it.

    Keep em coming!

I'm thinking more of the 16-bit era, I'm seeing pixelation goodness.

Yeah, sonic 3 had you collecting Spheres and a lot of Genesis games had 3D spheres, like Vectorman and some Sonic bosses.

    Lets see:

Sonic's first boss ever: eggman at the end of the 3rd stage of GHZ.

Sonic3: the shields; the special stages which were a huge 3D ball you walked on full of smaller red, blue and yellow balls; many bosses used balls or were made of balls, like the 1st act boss on hydrocity.

    Ballz, obviously.

    Vectorman was made of balls.
