Spielberg nabs rights to Ghost in the Shell...

This show in all of it's forms (manga included) uses painfully complex dialogue. I am lost without subtitles, and the manga is simply out of my hands. A shiny quarter says the whitey version is dumbed down.

Some things just shouldn't be done live action, this and Akira should remain untouched.

The damn thing's hard to follow even with subtitles, talk about bloody complicated, deep story lines... still one of the best anime series ever.

 

I got the impression from the article it will be computer animated. Did I miss something? All live-action is "3D" last I checked... well, you know what I mean. And yes, this would suck in live action me thinks. No western actress can pull off Kusanagi's subtleness with half her ass hanging out.

 

I really think that GitS could be one of the better candidates for a live action movie if done right. I think for it to work best though they would have to be a new script and not adapt one of the current stories.

I think it has to do with the type of 3D that comes out of the screen but it isn't crude like the old red/blue glasses. I haven't seen it in action so I can't really grasp it fully but from what I understand a lot of big name directors are really interested in the new technology.

Wasnt that crapfest Dark Angel supposed to be James Cameron's version of GUNM? It wasnt even near to the original story, the whole series was lame to say the best, and worst of all it brought one of the horrors of cinema to the new millenium: jessica alba.

Read the article: the producers of this movie are the same a-holes that did the spiderman movies, fantastic 4, and the upcoming I-didnt-read-the-comic-but-whateva ironman.

Expect only a couple of things to be like in the original story, and the rest completely different...
