first of all, I would like to invite you guys to take a look at the re-opened West Mansion webpage, which is considered to be the world's largest Splatterhouse site. Several new items have been contributed and actually, many are on their ways to being posted as well (lets say something very cool in the emu department) www.classicgaming.com/splatterhouse speaking of, the owner of the site was having a conversation with me about what items from the Splatterhouse mythos could we be missing. As emulation came up, we found ourselves with a question: Was the Japanese Mega Drive version of Splatterhouse 2 ever released in ROM form? I checked the usual places and it turns out that there is no information about the subject anywhere. This is odd because according to the article on the site, there are several differences between the two versions of the game so my question is to the experts: (not asking for a link or file) was the game ever dumped? thanks
Headsup: often Japanese and English localizations are contained in the same ROM, space permitting. Regarding MD, the console determines the region, not the game. (In other words, both releases are probably identical bit for bit.)
You could ask someone w/ a modded MegaDrive that can switch the region to play the actual game and see if it's the same ROM data. This is what I see in my good set. It would look like it's not.
