I'm getting an HDTV in a few days for use with my PC and game consoles, and I would like to set up the audio in a manner that won't be awkward for me to deal with later. The set I'm looking at has crappy sound ratings, but that doesn't matter because I'm plugging my PC speakers into the TV. However, this leaves me with no sound output from my PC.

Outputting audio through HDMI seemed like an option, but I don't think it will work with my current graphics card. I'm using a 7900GS right now, and I'll probably wind up getting a 4850 within the next few months. I don't know if HDMI audio out works with the 7900GS though, as there seem to be differing reports with different cards, as the case always is.

Xbox and PS2 are going through component. If I decide to plug the rest in then the Saturn will go through composite, and the Dreamcast through VGA (which I'll have to split with the PC, but this doesn't seem like it will be a problem).

    Any suggestions?

What is the exact make of 7900GS you have (xfx,bfg...ect) as i know some have full HDMI video and audio capabilities.

Well, here's what we do when my friends use my moniter for 360 LAN's.

There's a splitter that has a headphone jack/RCA jack, you plug that into Line in on your sound card, and then the sound goes through your speakers along with PC sound. There's probably a bigger splitter to use you could find.

    Saturn through component?

Watch out, PS2 looks nasty on HDTV, even at 480p and stuff. Dreamcast looks badass on VGA on my HDTV though.

Whoops, I meant composite for the Saturn. I rarely play PS2 so it's not a huge deal; I don't even have a memory card.

@3do - I have an eVGA 7900GS KO. It says it supports HDMI and came with an adapter, but the box is in my dad's car right now (moving back to school in a few days) so I can't check. If I can get audio with HDMI out then my problems are solved. Nice In Flames sig, by the way :)

I read that using VGA on a HDTV was a bad idea for gaming... is there any reason why this would be the case? It seemed to work great on my brother's 42" DLP when I tried it.

I would *really* like to avoid using a splitter (thought I mentioned something about it in the first post but I guess I erased it). It really might come down to me just disconnecting the Xbox and using my PC for everything, because I really don't play many Xbox games. That would mean I have to get another CPU fan, though, because the stock X2 fan is LOUD.

My 7900GS KO from eVGA didn't have HDMI on it. Is there a breakoff adaptor or something?

I have no clue on the second one. Until I got an Elite I used VGA on my 360 and DC and it was way better then using component. The only thing that was better was HDMI.

Actually I just did a quick eBay search of the eVGA and neither auction I saw says anything about HDMI. One says HDTV, so I'm probably imagining things. Time to start selling stuff for a new card...

    Thanks for the help guys.
