Sprite ripping?

    Hello,

    Theres something Id really like to have as a sig in various forums, as well as this one.

    I was wondering if someone could do a sprite rip for me as an animation from Metal Slug 3, where one of the characters turns into a zombie.

    I already have something similar.

    I stole this from somewhere else, though. I suppose I could use it, but Id really appreciate it if someone could help me out, tell me where I could find it myself, or how to make one myself.

    I don't know for sure, since I've never tried it, but I think sprite ripping from Neo-Geo games would be difficult, as almost everything on the screen is a sprite.

    The only way I can think of is to run the game in an emulator (of course), patch all palette entries (can MAME do this?) for all objects but your desired "sprites" to a single mask color such as hot pink, then rapidly do screenshots unless you have an emulator which can step frames. This will then need to be transparentized, trimmed, sequenced and finally animated with GIF or perferably MPNG. Alternatively, you could manually trim the background out of your screenshots but even that's a lot to ask someone ;)

    The emulator "neorage" does exactly what Calpis wrote, show/mask layers and step frames.

    I used to have NeoRageX, and my ROMs of Metal Slug werent censored.

    All you have to do is find some. They arent very hard to find, either, I might add. (except for MS5, which for some miraculous reason, I found AND beat almost 6 months before its Arcade release)

    My emulation days are long over now, though.
